East-West Sessions 031 - 034 compiled by Krekpek Records. What is this Session? Dope live-acts, awesome producers and jam sessions with people from all over the globe who speak one language: music. This Time w/ Figub Brazlevič, Tis L, Robot Orchestra, Clockwerk and Terra Pete.

Die East-West Session wurde vor fünf Jahren gegründet, um eine Plattform für eigene Ideen zu schaffen und Musikern und Produzenten die Möglichkeit zum Ausprobieren und Austausch zu geben. Unzählige Künstler wagten den ersten Schritt aus ihren Bedroom Studios auf die EWS Bühne. Mittlerweile waren Künstler wie IAMDDB, SmifNWessun, Suff Daddy, Falk Schacht, Karate Andi, Plusmacher, MC Rene, Torch und viele weitere auf der EWS zu Gast. Figub Brazlevic und Benne Basquiat haben neben ihrem eigenen Label Krekpek Records parallel eine Veranstaltungsreihe entwickelt, die eine eigene Serie an Vinyls in limitierter Auflage herausbringt. Die Inhalte ergeben sich aus Bookings, der eigenen Live Band oder aus dem näheren Umfeld der EWS. Das besondere der aktuellen Ausgabe ist, dass die Vinyls nicht mehr monatlich erscheinen, sondern in einem Turnus von drei Monaten, um die Qualität weiter zu steigern und den Besuchern und Sammlern eine noch komplettere Platte anzubieten. Das alles macht die East-West Session zu einem einzigartigen Schmelztiegel, der im Wedding das schwarze Gold fördert und die monatlichen Sessions gebührend dokumentiert. Alle alten Ausgaben findet man digital auf der East-West Session Bandcamp. Die neueste Ausgabe „031-034“ erscheint exklusiv mit dem neuen Partner Vinyl-Digital in einer limitierten Vinyl Auflage von 300 Stück und digital auf allen gängigen Musikplattformen.

With his acclaimed debut album Seeds, Roots & Fruits, an inclusion on Mark Farina’s Mushroom Jazz 8, and notable Cold Busted compilation appearances, the Polish beat-master Emapea has been a producer to watch. Early in 2018 he unveiled Zoning Out, Volume 1, an album intended for chilling while deep in thought, or for getting into that crucial head-nod zone, like when the DJ drops the dopest beat. With listeners ready for more rhythmic brain-food, Emapea provides with the anticipated next installment: Zoning Out, Volume 2. 

Developing the theme of Volume 1, Emapea takes his jazzy sensibilities and fresh drum patterns and ups the ante, delivering 18 mandatory cuts that swerve and shimmy while exhibiting pure dopeness. Take “Last Cypher,” which is an infectious funk-hip-hop hybrid that flows with more than a few surprise embellishments. There’s also the low-rider spy-hop of “Big Small Talks”; “Tantra” with its smooth, old school ride; the sensual boom bap of “Blue Almonds”; and the infectious, latin-lounge-tinged “Rainy Day”. 

These are no-nonsense beat compositions, perfect for thinking, for grooving, for dreaming, for zoning out. Emapea and Cold Busted come correct once again.
