Este es el séptimo álbum de jiony, y resultó de la selección de algunos de los tracks producidos durante el confinamiento. Los tracks que aparecen en este álbum fueron seleccionados porque tienen un sonido que más o menos se identifica con el Hip Hop Lo-Fi, o por lo menos es una representación del gusto de jiony por ese estilo de música. Después de la música vienen los nombres de los tracks y el nombre del disco. La idea del título “Uno Es Mínimo Dos”, tiene que ver con el conflicto que puede llegar a tener una persona por querer ser, en cierto sentido, libre de los demás. Pero somos animales sociales y necesitamos de los demás, nos usamos, así que uno tiene que ser cuidadoso en cuanto a cómo articula sus deseos de libertad.


This is jiony’s seventh album, which resulted from a selection of some of the tracks made during lockdown. The tracks that appear on this album were selected because they resemble a Hip Hop Lo-Fi style, or at least a representation of jiony’s taste of this style. After the music comes the names of the tracks and the album. The idea behind “Uno Es Mínimo Dos” (One is, at least, two) comes from the conflict that one can have with wanting to be, in a sense, free from others. But we are social animals and we need others, we use each other, so one has to be careful in how to articulate its desire for freedom.

Co-founder of Mexico City’s based electronic music label VAA. From Nu-Jazz to Techno, through Trip-Hop, Funk and Latin music, jiony offers one of the most unique and identifiable sounds in the contemporary downtempo scene. For more than ten years he has been taking chances on slow music in and out of the dance floors, playing alongside Nicola Cruz, El Búho, Matanza and Nicolas Jaar. He collaborates in other projects such as CasaNegra, Ser Humano, Extraperrestre and Karen y Los Remedios. His live acts are multifaceted; one or two instruments, live looping and improvisation, alone or with other musicians. As a DJ and Selector he likes to mix different genres like Hip-hop, Funk, Jazz, Latin, House and Techno.
