You’d be hard-pressed to find a dance music label in Australia that has had a better output than Planet Trip in the last 12 months. The imprint led by Sydney’s Mike Who has scoured the globe releasing new tracks from a number of artists both at home and abroad. In PT 006 the label is joined by Belarus native Fitzzgerald, a producer whose Australian love affair continues having recently found himself on the tracklist of the forthcoming, ‘First Light Vol. 2’ compilation curated by CC:DISCO!. 

In this 5-track EP ’The Morning After’, Fitzzgerald explores the depth of Balearic tranquillity on the A-Side, before firing up the charcoals on the B-Side.Today’s premiere, ‘E36’, is a B-line into the fast lane, a percussion-heavy ride that quickly escalates into a winding chase. Mister T. Records is a Record label and DJ collective founded by a group of friends in Paris & Toulouse. 18 months after the release of their 3rd EP, the label is back with their first official digital release, a new project by Russian-born (Paris-based) producer/DJ Sim Fossil.

Sim isn’t new to the production game, in fact, he started his journey in electronic music 10 years ago, producing under his house alias Cossway and releasing with labels like HedZup, Whoyostro, Hatch, Deepolody, and Inter records. Sim considers this project a big step up for him, citing labels like Mood Hut, Pacific Rhythm, and PPU as influences for this newly minted sound.

The Body Contact EP is truly a blast from the past. Each tune is filled with vintage synths and iconic drum machine sounds paying homage to the sounds of the Belgian, Canadian, and US underground scenes.

The EP opens with ‘Body Contact’, its most dance-floor friendly track, mixing together the loud and simple rhythms of newbeat jamming with Sim’s distorted house samples. The journey continues with ‘Baseline Traffic’, another powerful tune, diving in the very essence of late 80’s electronic music. Its hypnotic bassline guides us all along, between aerial melodies and filtered synths. Rounding out the release is ‘Programmed Cruise’, a groovy tribute to proto-house and synth-pop, a step back from the new beat influences of the two first tracks. With its ethnic flutes and chugging percussion, Sim evokes a light and carefree atmosphere that’d be perfect for daytime festie sets. A song like this is versatile and could easily make its way into a house, Italo, or even tech-house set. If you’re a fan of DJ City, Jexopolis, or anything from Eden Burns, this EP will be right up your alley.

After 2 years & being played by infamous names such as The Blessed Madonna, Horse Meat Disco, Tim Sweeney, Carista, Peach, Orpheu The Wizard, Ben UFO, Rune Lindbaek, Dicky Trisco, Double Dancer and the list goes on… Canto Club is back!

From party people with shoulder pads, big hair, white Rolls-Royces, panama hats, the Fragrant Harbour that is Hong Kong had a very unique Hotel / Clubbing scene before places like DD’s, Canton Disco and Hot Gossip opened their doors.

These Discotheques were a place of creativity, panache and mischief of the era. They were all destinations of desire.

For this edition, we have a special duo called Running Hot which is making waves on the web for digging obscure gems alongside our head honcho RFX. This compilation of 8 edits from the harbor.
We have lots of glitter in this one and the usual funky percussive grooves very unique to Cantonese music.

It's getting hotter, drier, wetter and more extreme every day. Little by little. An omnipresent haze of unseen greenhouse gas. Bad Weather getting worse. Bad Weather you believe it or not. An incremental, subtle centigrade of decimals. Sound swirls, a high-pressure system of atmosphere and entropy.

Two things taken together: Brillman x Tape Lab and global warming. Both coming at you all the time on all sides. Unavoidable yet often ignored.

If you don’t feel it, just wait. Echoes from the past, thought long lost to the ice, thawed and dislodged - glacial gifts as artifacts frozen for the future. A yawning and unexplored expanse of liminal space in between the calm and calamity - a cocooning cacophony.

A cyclical ricochet reverb bounced back and forth across a rapidly warming earth.

Layers of samples compose an atmosphere, insulating from and for chaos and Kaossilator. Words concealed as sound speak volumes behind a Vangelic vision (Text by Tape Lab).
