Setting the wheels in motion for his forthcoming “Under Another Sky LP”, Cern opens his 2nd studio album with three teaser tracks to wet your beak. An artist who never shies from experimentation, whilst consistently striking a chord deep down, Cern offers a sample of the damage, reflection and reconstruction that lies ahead.

Starting things off with a track exclusively available for this album sampler, “Tiamat” loosens the reigns and unleashes a storm that matures below the surface, retaining composure and clout all the while. Named after an ancient goddess that embodied primordial chaos, Cern engineers a perfect set opener with precision; low ends striking right at the chest.

As the dust clears in the aftermath of bedlam, the tempo relaxes somewhat as we are welcomed by “What We Bring Upon Ourselves”. The orchestral introduction is profound, yet cautious and thought-provoking. Delicate strings and serene chords evoke a warm glow, enveloping vinyl crackles in a truly sublime musical interlude.

This leads smoothly into the superbly layered “Conway”, which picks the pace back up, but teasing, in playful, almost tormenting fashion. Initially subtle and ultra-stripped, it quickly gathers momentum with menacing drive. Breathtaking amen flashes emerge sporadically, before retreating to minimal flickers; masterfully controlling the dance.

Kaarbanik Sound proudly presents https://soundcloud.com/sol-music-uk’s debut release, showcasing his take on dubstep, with a unique style that has been kept behind the scenes for too long. The talented producer behind this EP was born in Bristol in 1999 and has been writing, producing and playing music for most of his life (since age 5); one can notice this just by listening. His masterful mix of ‘in-the-box’ production with his ever-evolving modular synthesizer rack is joined by his effortless songwriting skills and exploratory / forward-thinking sound synthesis. ‘Fungi EP’ (KAB011) is clear prove of this, with 3 solid and varied tracks named after different types of mushrooms. 

Amanita muscaria ('fly agaric'' or ''fly amanita')' is native of the temperate and boreal regions of the Northern Hemisphere, and is noted for its hallucinogenic properties and toxicity. The people of Siberia gave the mushroom a religious significance, and used it as an intoxicant and entheogen. 
 
Shiitake ("black forest mushroom", "sawtooth oak mushroom" or "golden oak mushroom") can be found growing in groups on decaying wood, in warm and moist climates of southeast Asia. Known for its culinary properties, it is also considered a medicinal mushroom in some forms of traditional medicine.  
 
Parasol is a fairly common species found in temperate climates around the world. It grows in pastures and woodland, often forming fairy rings. It is a very popular fungus in Europe, due to its large size, abundance and versatility in the kitchen. However it may not be eaten raw, because of its slight toxicity. 
 
SØL’s very first release, Fungi EP, will guide you through these natural environments and prepare you for the journeys soon to come on Kaarbanik Sound.

Recently record label DUPLOC celebrated its fifth anniversary with a few special projects. Now the leading Belgian dubstep imprint returns to its usual 2-track digital series, as they're welcoming back the Leeds based Surreal for DUPLOC036. Affiliated with DEEP MEDi plus Navy Cut, and with notable appearances on both of the previous DUPLOC SELECTS chapters, Surreal now drops two fresh originals which have been in heavy rotation. While "Pique" explores the deeper and moodier side of dubstep, "Indian Flute" bursts of energetic 140 melodies and bass weight. Excellent picks which properly represent Surreal and DUPLOC's sound.

"We would firstly like to take a  moment to thank you all for your  fantastic support over the course of  2019 as we celebrate our most  successful year to date. We felt it  necessary therefore to round the  year off with a bang as we unveil  this delightful five track selection from German producer and soundsmith: Ome. 

This project is the perfect showcase  of his unique take on Dubstep and  grime influences, as we kick off this  masterful display with a dive into  the twisted pools and shimmering synthesizer breaths of ‘Another’, constantly  switching between grime-like melodies and warbling LFO’s. Next, the gnarly,  systematic sub-lines of the title track ‘Way Too Far’, dripping in arpeggio energy.  

The fun continues as ‘Luna Sangrante’ arrives with some stunning synth work,  flipping between ascending melodies and striking chord stabs, all dancing above  some stunning compositional balancing.

On remix duty we are gifted a real treat as Busted Fingerz arrives firstly for a  beefy re-think of ‘Another’, layering in some additional squarewave drives and  atmospheric pressure, before alllone delivers a vibrant half-step overhaul of  ‘Way Too Far’ to add a final touch of diversity to this stepper-heavy selection.  We are super proud of this body of work and couldn’t be happier to welcome  Ome into our ever-expanding team here at Simply Deep!"
