Well, yeah, nice and steady groove and a good motive in its heart, but there's something valuable to explore for you from this reference point.

fwiw, I think a 'B' section with a different bass and chords would make for a more engaging tune, rather than the variations on the melody so much. I think that main hook is so cool, that you need to go somewhere else to really get the benefit of coming back to it!
