I used to be a member of The Young Society here in Texas back in the 60s.  I am not really a fan of hip hop music, but I do like this version.

very cool!  I always strive to produce in ways that all demographics can appreciate.  We producers are to make music for the masses, not just ourselves. :)

The new self-titled release by Feeling Flying is from Andrew Thomas and Bevan Smith, a collaboration of two like-minded musicians, focused on improvisation, experimentation and minimal sound that allowed them to create a unique expression deep within the process and to explore dynamic and ever-evolving compositions. The end results are an organic and continuous musical dialogue of sonic, interpretive landscapes.

Feeling Flying is released on CD and limited to 50 copies, they each feature vintage linen book covers and each issue is individually constructed with hand-cut collages and mixed-media artworks, and each copy is hand-numbered and packed inside glassine bags. I was thinking back to being 11 years old, at the first rehearsal for the school play. It was my first year at the school, having recently moved country. It was extremely out of my comfort zone. My hands were in my pockets and I was slouching because I felt so self-conscious. The teacher shouted at me for having my hands in my pockets and for not standing up straight, as if it was the worst offence. It seemed out of the blue to me. Everyone was looking and I felt like the worst person in the world. My heart raced and my skin felt like it was covered in bugs. It was even harder to stand up straight. As children we get taught to never answer back, because it's disrespectful. Sometimes we grow up not knowing how or when to stand up for ourselves.

The Scrapbook album consists of 24 thematic sound sketches. The composition is based on superimposing different sound layers on top of each other, as in scrapbooking. The author used various samples from old new-age cassettes and vinyl records, tape loops, field recordings, various noises, guitars, and piano.

1. Good Morning. Every day is a new life.

2. Birds of Nevada. By the sound of the birds, you will know that you are not at home.

3. Light Rail. You recognize life when you see movement.

4. Cyclone. That feeling when a hurricane rages a hundred miles away, and an unsettling wind and rain hit your window.

5. Period I. Listening to the water.

6. Gesture. Body language speaks volumes about what words leave unsaid.

7. Noh. We are actors in the theatre of life, having forgotten who we truly are.

8. Magic Night. Magic is an unknown science.

9. Differentiation of Feelings. To cope with emotions, you must first understand what you feel.

10. Period II. Water is time.

11. Ceremony. Life is made up of rituals. But any ritual loses its meaning when its essence is forgotten.

12. Portrait of the Moon. The image of the Moon represents peace and tranquility.

13. The Sands of Time. Time is the most irresistible force in the universe.

14. Initiation. Only a pure devotee of the Lord can give the Mantra of liberation.

15. Period III. Water is Wisdom.

16. Fata Morgana. The most significant difference between people is how deeply they are immersed in illusions.

17. Miniature Lamps. You can be a small lamp, shining even when the Sun of Truth is hidden.

18. Fire Walk with Me. Sometimes it gets scary, but keep holding the torch of Truth.

19. Pollination. Material nature is God's smile.

20. Period IV. Water Cleanses.

21. Preparing to Leave. Without renunciation, there is no freedom.

22. Pocket Watch. Live in harmony with time.

23. Terminal. Don't get too comfortable in this world; it's just a brief stopover.

24. Good Night. Every night is a little death.

This is my Reason Studios production submission for the Reason Halloween Livestream Trick or Beat Challenge!  Vocal acapella track provided by Reason Studios and Natali Noor.

A very immersive and captivating track with a catchy hook, this track has a mix of hip-hop and pop styles - be sure to listen all the way through!  Lay back, throw on a pair of headphones, and prepare to be surrounded by a holographic landscape of ghosts and monsters, all created with Reason Studios' software synths and effects!!!  100% of this production was created with Reason 13 as a standalone program.  The Challenge criteria was to make a beat for the vocal track using "your" Reason tricks.  To me, this means that the standalone application is likely the best approach to fully showcase the power of the software, as there are limitations when using Reason as a Rack+ plugin.  

This is the most fun I've had producing a beat in quite some time!  I would be thrilled if I could collaborate with Natali!  If any artists would like to send me their acapella vocal tracks and have a full production designed exactly for them, I can handle any genre you desire.

I have always loved the rather risqué ‘Leather’ by Legpuppy and was blown away when the band agreed to me doing a remix of it.  This really has been a labour of love for me, adding my own ideas, restructuring the track and experimenting with the stems: I hope that I have done the track justice.
