This song is about the feeling of wanting to stay in a particular moment forever despite knowing that change is always just around the corner.

Sea of Dreams

This song is about somebody being dishonest about something significant and the journey that person goes through after as a result. From the beginning stages of denial, to despair and sorrow, through to growth and learning to change that behaviour in the future (or alternatively continue in a vicious ongoing cycle!?). The song has quite an epic and powerful, driving feel to it which gives the impression of some bigger forces being at work (ie - karma / the universe is watching our every move!)

The main sound is the thick drone of the Kawai e37c vintage organ, accompanied mainly by psychedelic synth sounds. The Drums are played solidly and are a combination of acoustic and electronic, and the Vocals are layered and emotional. It is written from a personal experience of Jonny Link (singing)

Hindsight

This song takes us on the journey of the pressures of long distance love. The final section is a goodbye and a tribute to the love that has been lost.
Recorded by Jonny Link over the period of a year as he lived this experience and used the song in a cathartic / therapeutic way!

Dont Forget Your Shoes

Still Deciding takes a delve into the madness that can be created by indecision. The song starts with someone standing at a cross road agonising over what is his true and most right "path". After a lot of turmoil and head noise, the song finds some resolution with the realisation that sometimes it's best just to forge onwards regardless of the particular direction, and to roll with the ups and downs that come with any decision!
The main drone and bass sounds are from a Kawai e37c Electric organ made in 1967! The electric guitar parts came from hours of going down wormholes looping the main riff and making slight variations along the way. The song was created by two close friends, Jonny Link on organ, vocals, drums and Jack Tully on electric guitar. Very fittingly we both have problems with making large life decisions so hopefully our bond over this hopefully adding some angst to the songs feel.

Still Deciding

Far Away begins with a fairly pop/indie introduction and first half then builds into more of a psychedelic rock sound from the middle to end. The song is about perspective. The lyrics explore how things can be hard to understand when they are up close and you don't have the full picture in view, then quite clear when they are moved physically back from you. In a very similar way, moments in time can seem quite confusing when you are engulfed in them then embarrassingly obvious as they move back into the past.

Far Away

This is a song about the different masks you wear to protect yourself depending on the company you are in, even sometimes when inside an intimate relationship. It is also a goodbye song with a lament of appreciation of a really nice time spent together, despite things needing to eventually end.

This is a more stripped back sound than my other tracks. It was one of those quick moment things (which rarely happen with me) which is probably why I still enjoy the song ( : I actually recorded it again it at a friends studio setup but I was missing the kind of instant and lo-fi feel/vibe of this particular take so I went back and finished mixing the original recording and used it instead. The way I hear the song is as quite a dreamy / relaxed melody with a nostalgic but overall positive feeling.

Disguises

This is a song about making sure you smell the roses. It describes how no matter how hectic life could get living in Byron Bay, balancing 2 or 3 fairly low paying jobs, there was always plenty of happiness to be found in the simple beauty of the surroundings and the overall feel of the place. 
The main instrument heard in HAPPILY is the Kawai 1967 vintage organ, a kind of low humming drone sound, with the vocals and drums close behind and a hollow body electric guitar featuring in the choruses. HAPPILY also comes with a humour based film clip (you tube) about the challenges of trying to record an album in your living space.

Flying Over

Happily

This song has more of an acoustic singer/songwriter/guy with guitar sort of sound with a lo-fi kind of vibe, and then grows into more of a dramatic ending both in energy and in the soundscape. It is about realising that something or somebody you thought wasn't really worth your time or energy is in fact suddenly completely out of your reach.I really like the image of someone literally flying over the top of your head to symbolise that moment of clarity that you have in fact blown it.

All songs made by Jonny Link, based in Byron Bay. Organ and drums based music, mixing acoustic and electronic elements with emotive vocals. DECIDE (2015) was recorded during a few years in Byron Bay and also overseas in some fairly different scenarios. the New album HINDSIGHT (08/01/2021) sounds similar to DECIDE but hopefully smoother. Each song on the new album is it’s own story, however there is an overall feeling of nostalgia throughout it. The overall concept of the album is as you step further away from the past the more embarrassingly obvious things become. 
The music has been inspired by many things; little adventures that Jonny (vocals, organs, drums, mixing) has ended up on, interesting conversations he had about purpose and meaning while living in the fairly alternative northern rivers region of New South Wales (both with close friends and family or people met along the way), both fleeting and long term relationships and their ups and downs, and the importance of always coming back to nature and let it guide you through things when they don't seem to make sense.
