For today’s program I’ve invited Orla Wren, an artist from North England releasing music on Flau, Facture, Home Normal, and most recently Oak Editions, to share with you his favorite pieces, which happen to be from film. It’s a beautiful chronicle, with its own special plot and emotional journey: 

"For this mix I collected many fragments of music, dialogue and foley sounds which were taken directly from the films themselves and which I then arranged variously and carefully placed to construct some possible narrative. I always feel drawn to the most intimate moments within a film, most often I find it’s where the music and story hold the most emotion and poignancy. This mix is made with love and respect for the film makers, actors and the musicians, thank you for the beautiful moments." - Orla Wren

Matthewdavid's Mindflight is Heart Music. It's a record
of beauty that has evolved from explorations into his 
deepest emotions, visions and imagination. The Flights 
were most directly inspired by his profound connection 
with Michael Stearns' Planetary Unfolding (Continuum 
Montage 1981). You can feel that Trust is it's Brother. 
Stearns speaks of Dreams, Resonance, Unity, and Ecstasy. 
Matthew adds that this journey has been one of Healing, 
Discovery, Finding, and Transformation. The two and
their kindred are wondrous Sonic-Energetic-Midwives
helping to usher in this age of Expanded Consciousness.

The process and source are Extra and Terrestrial, 
Synthesized, Improvised (Live on Dublab Radio) Meditations. 
Sourced from the well of spiritual expression, these 
recordings were further realized in Ableton. You're flying 
through the mystical world of Gilbert William's cover, 
the software technology is dancing with circuitry, Flute, 
Harp, Hulusi, Water, Sonar, Quasar, and microtonal 
language are Tied and Dyed in the moment.

The Mind is programmed by the Heart. With an open 
Heart the Mind can apply our gifts. I asked Matthew 
what he's seen on / in his Mindflights: "Unconditional Love!

Norwegian producer Zimpzon has teamed up with Inuuro, an electronica/ambient trio also from Norway. This EP, entitled "Air", features two breathtaking downtempo cuts.

The title track begins with a beautiful soundscape, consisting of mesmerizing pads and captivating synth layers. A blissful breakbeat is introduced later, which goes extraordinarily well with the theme arpeggio lines. In the break, we witness a stunning piano line that seamlessly integrates with the following theme part. "Valley" takes off with delicious piano stabs and intriguing pad layers. Soon, lush synth lines are introduced, as well as a well-crafted breakbeat with unique percussion variations.

Inuuro & Zimpzon - Air

February has been a wonderful month for love-themed tracks, my main inspiration for this mix. Please enjoy February favorites 2016 filled with uplifting ambient beats and beautiful chillstep music.

On this amazing journey, Funcken masterfully weaves in his favorite ambient and modern classical pieces with the tracks from The Voynich Manuscript album, an upcoming release on Dronarivm as Legiac. This is a fantastic trip through music, layered with not only skillful selection, but Funcken’s expert touch of mixology, blended with a few effects to smooth out your ride. I could honestly go on and on about it, but, as with most cases for these things, the music speaks louder.
