Brilliant musician and composer Yann Tiersen is holding a competition to rework/remix/whatever his new track 'Ker al Loch' so I've tried my hand at the job at hand.

All drafts after and including 7 have a completely different part which isn't much like the original at all. The music begins transitioning into this part around 4:32 and then the part ends around 7:57.

9th Draft: Couple bug fixes (made some things fade out that didn't fade out in the last draft which I hadn't noticed sounded bad until I listened through headphones) and added more crunchy drums into the drums.

10th Draft: More crunchy drums were required.

Charly is the hi-hat, warbly sound, 'Go'-sayer, bag-of-tissues-hitter, breather and ideas man. Oh, he also made an 'eeeeeee' sound which sounded rather screechy and not very nice but I worked a bit of editing magic and made it into the atmospheric sound that plays a tune in the background until about one minute in.

My mate Nate suggested I try and make some drum 'n' bass the other night and he gave me the basic stuff like BPM and the general drum beat (bass drum and snare-wise) and also said like make sure the hi-hat goes up and down in volume. Then I just got to work on the rest of it and that. This is what I've ended up with.

Called it Static because I was initially gonna turn the telly on and take a picture of Family Guy or American Dad since it was that sort of time when they're on itv2 but then the TV showed Static and I thought that would make a cool artwork thing instead so I took a picture of that and the name came shortly after.

Made it on Ableton since I recently got the 90-day trial and the sounds included are a synth lead called 'No 303 FM 1L', steel drums (although I'm not sure how much they actually sound like steel drums but that's what they were), accordion and three drum kits ('Ironman Kit' for the bass drum, 'So Future Kit' for the snare and 'Flares Kit' for the hi-hat). Oh and btw, at one point, the snare moves over to a different MIDI track with delay on the snare.

This is actually the tenth time I've exported the track. Just keep noticing(/Nate noticed one thing) little things I don't like or wanna change/add to it so yeah but that's the way it is I guess. Maybe, this will be the last time I export it - we'll see.
