BACKYARD SESSION at WE 07072021

After many years not being face to face, it was great to get back to Cairns and celebrate a milestone birthday with my best mate - and what a party it was!! So great to see both old and new friends coming together to celebrate the man, fuelled by the bondship we all share with the love for our music. 

The night was unbelievable! The house dressed up to mimic the early 2000's club - 'The Bassment', where lifelong friendships were formed and the music reigned supreme. It was 'propa' nostalgic and was great to see us 'oldies' still giving it some welly on the dance floor!

Musically, this was quite the journey! Along with some fresh new releases, we re-lived some musical memories from the past with updated versions of 'special' tracks and this was a real treat. Whether done via studio edits / re-masters pre-event, on the fly remixing or in the moment trickery. I hope you enjoy the mix as much as I did when it was performed, and that it gives you the 'feels' of what the party was like with every listen. 

Happy birthday Neil 'Orange Peel' Parker. Big loves to you, your beautiful wife Nikabee and the whole team for making this party one that will be remembered for a long time to come.

This was an amazing street festival at the Truckee Roundhouse.  The Roundhouse is an invaluable maker space in Truckee. 
 It is a cornerstone of creative outlet, connection, community, personal growth, and expression.  It was an honor to play on the Giving Tree and watch families, kids, and all humans celebrate art and community on this beautiful day.  This set is a daytime vibe mostly of house cover songs.  It is a perfect summertime companion  for bbq's, driving, exercising, playing outdoors, or cleaning house.

Live hardware set originally performed @ SkyBar Thursday night, Otherworld 2024, on the unceded territory of the Ts'uubaa-asatx Nation, Lake Cowichan, BC.

(Unfortunately my recorder battery died halfway through the SkyBar set, so I just re-performed it back at camp the next day! Did a better job this time tbh)

Otherworld 2024 Liveset

All of this music (except the bit playing at the beginning which is by Maya Jane Coles) was generated by AI. I asked people to submit prompts. These were fed into Chat GPT for lyrics and then into Suno for the song. Before each song, I give the prompt.

This was played live at Otherworld 2024, our regional Burning Man event here on Vacouver Island.

The quality of the music is impressive. And the direction the AI went with many of the prompts is pretty hilarious.
