Joao Paulo Fernandes - Bridge To Infinity - 07. V.O.H.D.T.

This one is firstly homage to the Sci-Fi novel «Tower of Glass» by Robert Silverberg.
Also, since after I read it in my early teenage years, I had the idea of transforming the recited codons into music, together with a small bit of human DNA. Never really had the chance to do it until now.

Not long time ago I came up with this sad melody on my way to work while driving. After working on it I think the them came out sounding really beautiful albeit rather short. Sometimes I feel the need to reassure myself I leave something meaningful behind after I die, in some form of art. Beside my son that I adore, I sometimes feel the need to go create a mark in the universe, a sign of my brief existence. So few of us can really leave something like this behind after we are gone that I wonder how can I do it. I don’t mean stone carved or anything like that but more in the memory of some of us, that can endure a bit longer in time. Making music seems like a way, a kind of. My small bridge into infinity!

Last theme of the album made from two melodic sequences that were dwelling on my mind for quite some time now. The two happen to work well together and for the first time ever, I tried to use a voice over a vocoder to enhance the mix with a famous poem from William Blake. I feel the result came out rather pleasing.

«Mes Classiques Imaginaires» is a collection of random classically influenced musical studies with bits of electronic flavors, mainly computer based, created by me over the years with various influences from diverse genres. Some of the themes are just experiments I made for fun, others carry deep meaning to me. Some of them are quite recent but others are renditions of old stuff I made in the late 80's all the way thru the 90's with my old synth, the legendary Korg 01/W.

The Passage Of Time

Making music has been my life's main hobby, first with a Korg 01/w FD back in the early nineties and thru the folowing years with PC software until today. I really enjoy it and thought that I might finally share some of those studies here at soundcloud. Keep in mind that I'm just an enthusiast, not by any chance wanne be pro or follow music career whatsoever. I do this just for fun! Hope listeners might like some of my tunes. Many of them reflect a lot of my musical tastes as well as my way of seeing things in life... naif melodies, sometimes intensive and quite repetitive loops that get stuck in my brain for days without end, not for all tastes though ;) Influenced a lot by canons and somewhat simple arrangements, I love to make melodic loops where the «tail» perfectly matches the «head» ;)
