“I wrote this song for a close friend who lost her brother after our first lockdown in Perth. He faced a very long battle with depression, which tragically took his life. With a heavy heart, I couldn’t stop thinking about my friend who has faced many battles with her own mental health. I wanted to send her my love and tell her how precious she is to me, so I sat down and wrote her this song. Sometimes we all feel alone and disconnected in this world, and I hope that ‘Just for You’ can be a song to comfort people in hard times.” - Grace, Joan & The Giants

‘Cruel' is about a toxic relationship with someone or something that is holding you back in life. This is a song about trying your hardest to break through the dark times, whilst still being haunted by the past, and struggling to let go.

Wolves has a dark and haunting underlying tone, layered with a sense of hope. This song was written at a challenging time in our lives, a time filled with toxicity and suffocating relationships. We wrote Wolves as a way of healing, and as a way of freeing ourselves from this emotionally abusive place. Our main hope for this song is that it brings that same sense of healing to whoever listens to it.

Joan & The Giants fourth release ‘Bloodstream’ is a fast paced, powerful track which takes a darker look at a broken relationship. The lyrics are deeply vulnerable, and whilst centred around feeling helpless and defeated, there are moments of power and hope. 'Bloodstream' was recorded at Perth's 'Pavement Studios' with Lance Robinson, who recently engineered Coldplay's 'Everyday Life' and produced by guitarist Aaron Birch and vocalist Grace Newton-Wordsworth.
