Ever since a power outage back in 2015 that provoked me to play around with GarageBand, I have been mixing Apple Loops to create tracks that span a wide range of emotions and genres. This album/mixtape/whatever you want to call it has been a long time in the making as I've revisited unfinished pieces and struggled to figure out a way to openly and confidently share the music I create with those around me. With tracks I've created back in 2015 to the ones I finished just last night, I am happy to announce that I'm finally ready to share my musical creations to the world.

The name for this project "ILL.est 1996" is a play on words as it represents my hope of retaining a chic style while not forgetting about my humble roots as a young girl born and raised in Illinois since 1996 (Fun trivia: Chicago, my birthplace, is pictured on the cover). I'd like to thank my friend Alex Park for helping me come up with this punny name! :)

If you didn’t already notice, I’m in love with DEAN and his music. what2do has probably been one of the most difficult but also very fun covers to do since there’s so much overlapping with the 3 different singers and ad libbing. Fun fact: I recorded this over winter break but didn’t get a chance to release it until now because I couldn’t figure out what2do (hehe) for the cover art.
