“У Карпатах ходить осінь” (Autumn is coming to the Carpathians), originally performed by Sofia Rotaru in a musical movie “Chervona ruta” (1971), was written by Ukrainian composer Levko Dutkovsky, the founder of pop-band Smerichka, one of the most popular bands in Soviet Ukraine in early 1970s. The song was later performed by Nazariy Yaremchuk and Vasil Zinkevich, lead vocals in Smerichka. It was never released officially, and the only remaining studio recording of the song was ruined during digital transfer (the original mono sound was replaced with a fake stereo sound). This track has been corrected to give the song its original sound.

Incredible, but true: Soviet musicians in the mid-70s performed officially banned glam rock covers of popular Western bands. In 1975, the Ukrainian jazz-rock band Arnika played at their concerts a cover of the scandalous British hit ‘The Ballroom Blitz’, originally released by The Sweet in 1973. Of course, this song was never officially recorded either released in the USSR. This live recording, originally preserved in very poor quality, was restored and mastered by Old School Reinvented in 2025.

Arnika's rock influenced cover of "Колiска вiтру" (Windy lullaby), recorded live in 1975. Although it was never released by Arnika, Windy lullaby is one of the most famous songs written by Volodymir Ivasyuk which became widely known due to Sofia Rotaru's stellar performance. The song was included into Rotaru's fourth solo LP, released in 1976, and was part of a popular musical movie "Пісня буде поміж нас" (A song will be among us) filmed by the Ukrainian state TV in 1975, featuring Sofia Rotaru singing her signature 1970s hits in Ukrainian, Moldovan and Russian languages.

From snowy Soviet Moscow right to the heart of Detroit, this mashup of an iconic Soviet ballad "Snowfall" (Снегопад) by Nani Bregvadze with One For The Money by Royce Da 5'9" @royceda , Diamond D @diamond-d and and Skillz, produced by G-Squared @g-squared in 2012. The snowfall in this case is a poetic metaphor, this song is actually about a woman who does not want to get old and begs the “snowfall” not to sweep its “snow” onto her braids. This song, which instantly became a megahit in the Soviet Union, was released as part of Nani Bregvadze’s solo album in 1981.

A mashup of “Orovela,” an ancient Georgian folk lament once sung in the fields, released by a legendary VIA '75 band in 1976, and “Insolito,” a modern electronic deep groove by Jozik @jozik . This piece bridges centuries, evoking the memory of the Caucasus in a hypnotic downtempo ritual. Ethno ambient meets organic house in a dreamlike blend of sorrow and rhythm.

Love Blooms Just Once (Тільки раз цвіте любов), written by Ukrainian composer Volodymir Ivasyuk in 1973, has become a national hit in Soviet Ukraine and across the USSR in 1975, when Sofia Rotaru performed it for the musical movie “Song will stay with us”, filmed by the Ukrainian state TV. In 1977, the song was included into Rotaru’s highly acclaimed LP “Sofia Rotaru sings Volodymir Ivasyuk’s Songs”. However, this masterpiece was performed by other musicians at the time, including jazz-rock band Arnika. This live version was recorded in 1975 with powerful vocals by Viktoria Vradiy.

This track features a reimagining of "Ateisiu, mergužėle ateisiu," — originally sung by Vytautas Petrušonis and the Eglutės vocal ensemble — now echoed across decades as a memory in motion.
