Emerging from the vast sonic landscape of VEYL, comes a new compilation which captures the essence of the label while continuing to evolve its sound. 'Utopia Vanished: From Enslavement to Reiteration' is a juggernaut v/a with a total of 50 tracks by 25 artists, all of which are VEYL family and affiliates. While setting out to compile a release which surveyed the label’s diverse musical approach, the project took on a life of its own, eliciting an overwhelming amount of outstanding submissions. 

From the dark, brooding atmosphere of Shifted’s remix of Maenad Veyl’s 'Stranger' to the filthy electronics of TV.OUT, this just a tip of the iceberg. Bringing together some of the label’s most well known and beloved names, expect all new seductive tunes from Years of Denial, infectious post-punk from Blind Delon, the haunting cinematic synths of Filmmaker and of course the unmistakable energy of Arnaud Rebotini. Also included are new label signings, unreleased, alternate versions, and far beyond. You haven’t heard anything from this compilation and you might not hear anything else like it. 

While never being confined to a single sound or genre, 'Utopia Vanished' pushes the VEYL ethos even further while showcasing an awe-inspiring array of artists from across the globe. Through its music and presentation, 'Utopia' also presents a biting commentary on an endlessly broken world. A vicious cycle of a past that seems doomed to repeat while somehow hanging on to a glimmer of hope.

It’s been more than a week since Russia has invaded Ukraine, destroying Ukrainian cities and shattering the lives of millions of people, whose world will never be the same again. The Ukrainian music and culture community is devastated by the shocking crimes of the Russian government. We wish for peace in our country above all, and we are doing everything in our power to support the people of Ukraine. 

Right now It is most critical to raise funds for the Ukrainians bravely defending their country, and for those, who had to leave their homes behind. Therefore, Standard Deviation has joined forces with @Mystictrax — a Ukrainian label run by Lostlojic, for our most important release: РАЗОМ ЗА УКРАЇНУ / TOGETHER FOR UKRAINE — a compilation by 65 Ukrainian and International artists to be sold exclusively via Bandcamp. All profits from this release will be split between the following charity funds, supporting the people of Ukraine:

- The ‘Return Alive’ Fund, helping at the Ukrainian front  
- National Bank of Ukraine Fundraising Account for Humanitarian Assistance 
- ‘Ukraine Pride’ Fund for LGBTQIA+ soldiers and LGBTQIA+ people affected by the war
- ‘Голос Дітей’ Fund, helping children affected by the war

After working his magic on the Amsterdam underground, DJ/Producer @jobsifre has claimed a spot in the international electronic music scene. Known for his enthusiastic, happy-go-lucky approach to DJing, job sifre has earned a reputation for making parties move. The contrast between his playful style of mixing and the intensity of his records creates a unique blend of seriousness and mischievousness. His roots in techno give him a steady base to operate from, while his versatility and ability to read the crowd makes it easy for him to adapt to nights that ask for genres like electro, industrial, breakbeat, trance, rhythmic noise (and more), but he is also not scared to mix in a Madonna or punk record. His ultimate goal is to make people dance and let them have fun, while simultaneously challenging them to listen to things they never listened to before.

He’s already built up a cult following worldwide thanks to hosting a bi-monthly show on Echobox (previously on Red Light Radio). Titled antikunst, this show revolves around a dystopian trawl through the worlds of industrial, electro, skewed synth-pop, dreamy indie, post-punk, experimental electronica and (downtempo) techno. He is also known for his previous residencies at now defunct clubs like De School (Amsterdam) and BAR (Rotterdam) and shows at renowned clubs like Berghain/Panorama Bar (Berlin), .TAG (Chengdu), All (Shanghai), Robert Johnson and festivals like Dekmantel, Lowlands, Positive Education and Down the Rabbit Hole.

He made his production debut on Interstellar Funk’s Artificial Dance label in the autumn of 2017 with an impressive EP entitled Worries. It’s nothing less than a six-track distillation of sifre’s many and varied influences, re-shaped and re-packaged in his own distinctive style. In the first quarter of 2018 he released his second EP on Mark van de Maat's Knekelhuis label. After releasing a handful of remixes and various artist contributions, job is working hard on developing his ever-evolving sound.

He hadn't slept for days, though it felt more like weeks. Life had become a constant waking dream, observed through bleary heavy lidded eyes. Nothing seemed to help, he'd tried every method he could but pills, drugs and counting sheep had no effect. Days were nights and nights were days, a cycle he believed could no longer be broken. A constant feeling of being barely alive... 

Power Station boss Kris Baha lands on Emotional Especial for his debut 12" after dropping two remixes for previous label releases from Sfire and Red Axes. The producer and DJ, known for his heady club take on EBM, post-punk and EBM, has previously put out records with Bahnsteig 23, Pinkman and CockTail d'Amore, the latter imprint being the home for his debut album Palais at the end of the last year. 'Barely Alive' is a return to Kris' band roots and a step away from the club ready tracks he's become known for. Taking on remix duties are Especial regular Timothy Fairplay, the legendary Das Ding and Knekelhuis affiliate Job Sifre who provides an infectious remix that calls on his influences in electro and new wave.
