LHC Remix:  "System Exit"

I put this together very quickly as demo of my music for Game producers.  The tune is inspired by an imaginary game along these lines:  

A little robot goes on adventures.  He is powered by fusion and steam.  The setting is an alternative 20th Century, where the apocalypse occurred around about World War I.  Technology has progressed differently, with no iphones and PCs, but electro-mechanical self-aware analogue computers instead.  The little robot has to solve puzzles, avoid traps and thwart giant ironclad enemies of various sorts.

My homage to Voltron.  Of course I'm talking about the vehicle-Voltron which I much preferred.  

Yet another track-in-progress, perhaps to appear on an album which keeps seeming to get pushed back :) .  I will eventually do it though, and when I do I'll have it professionally mastered.

If you're wondering why I'm starting to use the genre "Mathstep" it's because a) I think that sounds cool and b) I've started using a bit of simple arithmetic to construct interesting or non-regular rhythms and patterns.

The tempo is 76, which is the year I was born (I began this track on my birthday).    I'm going to try to do an animated clip for this one so watch out for the Youtube version :) .

One of my favourite movie moments mixed up into an electronic imbroglio.  This features a certain famous quote from the real star of The Princess Bride.

If you're interested, most of that bass was done using a Korg Monotribe.

Elves vs Mecha [On Adapted Records Cheese and Biscuits Compilation - go there for a download]

This is an experiment – just a preview here though. Hopefully it’ll turn into a whole collection of pieces like this for solo acoustic instruments electronically manipulated.  I’d also love to do bassoon, flute and double bass, amongst others.
In this one I’m collaborating with the lovely Flora Wong, who really didn’t get a lot to go on when she turned up to the studio – I prepared her part the night before.  Luckily she has a beautiful tone (which I’m partly wrecking).
Anyway if you play flute or bassoon or some other acoustic instrument that you’d like to have electonificafied get in contact with me very soon (wanna get this done within a few months).

Here’s an over-the-weekend project from me.  Trying to squeeze in some synths between acoustic projects.  Weird feeling it is, I tell ya.  But fun.  Anyway here’s a tune featuring the mighty monotribe (mainly the melody).  Yes it *was* hard playing all that in using its silly ribbon. This is a sample (teaser only) from a track from my upcoming debut EP.

This is a concept EP - what I like to call "Adventure Music" featuring elements of glitch EDM shot through with steampunk industry, millenia old Vedic chants and science fiction complexity.

I have spent most of my life making music in many genres, both for myself and to help others, yet I am only now putting out my first album of my own music.  Accordingly it represents an outpouring of complicated ideas which might not suit everyone's taste but for me is inevitable.  I'll keep you posted on its progress.

OK, the last few have been "teasers" so I think I'd better load up a whole track now... this may or may not be on my upcoming release depending on a few things.  So, here it is - first full track from Vedic Machines (working title).

My homage to (in no particular order) Ron Fricke, Philip Glass, Michael Stearns, Kacek, Aphex Twin, etc, etc.  Done a little video for this one - a tribute to the film Baraka - check it out when you get a chance.

This one is yet to be mastered so I'm erring on the side of not too loud.

This version of the tune has not been professionally mastered, and is streaming at a reduced bit-rate, which affects the audio quality. I found a bunch of old tunes on my HD today… this is from a couple of years back when I was just getting into electronic production.  Back in the day I used to enjoy making space funk.  I worked on a few tunes that are a cross between the soundtrack for 90s video games and Chick Corea… (or something like that).  This tune features Old Man Henderson on the guitar, with Clint Allen (trumpet), me (keys), Sam Vincent (bass), and Mark Henman (chopped up into bits).
