@StookiSound are one of the UK's biggest exports in the global industry of trap. They're both London residents meaning their interpretation of the genre is equally as Dalston as it is Dirty South. But y'know, trap isn't a new thing, it's been existing in a more rudimentary form since 36 Mafia started popping collars so it's fair game to anyone. Stooki have developed the genre into a one night stand between Southern US hip-hop and ADHD electronica and in the process created one of the biggest hits from this side of the Atlantic, "Ball So Hard" - a collaboration with fellow UK trapite, Hucci. That lead to a US tour that saw them joining their own mosh pits and LOLing at our British weather from afar. We caught up yesterday to talk Pokemon, being jetlagged and the problem with current trap. Oh, and there's an awesome half hour mix alongside as always.

“Titan”, the stadium sized 2nd single from Clockwork gets the remix treatment from some of todays hottest producers. The package includes remixes from Congorock, GTA, Moska, The Partysquad and remix contest winners Coyote Kisses! Congorock does what he does best and raises “Titan” to new heights with the biggest build of the bunch. The Partysquad transform Titan into their signature badman rave style of gabber, dutch and electro. Moska transforms the drops just enough to turn crowds upside down and contest winners Coyote Kisses deliver the now crucial trap version. Miami’s GTA round out the release taking on the duties of remixing “Titan’s” monster B-side “BBBS”. They’ve completely flipped the beat and thrown in some of the wildest synth stabs we’ve ever heard.

The Canadian DJ/Production Duo Zeds Dead, made up of members DC and Hooks will release their Hot Sauce EP via Diplo’s Mad Decent label on January 29. The follow-up to last year’s Mad Decent EP, Victor, features 5 instrumental tracks that find the duo exploring more sonic territory with their music, further proving that they are one of the most versatile electronic groups around. From the opener, “Demons”, a nightmare inducing track with heavy, pulsating synths as well as keys and strings plucked straight from classic horror films to “Mr. Sub”, which displays a more minimalist approach from the duo with a bouncing bass and touches of space-disco synths and “Rave” a breakbeat monster that hits so fast they put in an audible breaths to remind listeners to take one themselves. Also, coming will be a video from acclaimed “Black Swan” choreographer Benjamin Millepied. This no hold barred approach to electronic music has posed Zeds Dead as one to keepan eye on in the year ahead.
