Inspired by the Hip – Hop, Soul and Funk Cultures, it was during 1994 following an event by Futuria Production, that Joe Gormann aka Phonic discovered his passion for electro-music.
His style of music has been influenced by mix’s from various DJ’s such as Laurent Garnier, Derrick May, Jeff Mills , Kévin Sanderson, Colin Dale, Jay Haze, Ricardo Villalobos, Dj T. aka Thomas Koch, Ron Trent and Josh Wink to name but a few.
Close to the Annecy Scene in France and its key players: Miloch, Ralph, Sebastopol and many others….. Phonic became a fan of the record store Interzone (managed by DJ Paton & Alex K from Tekmics Records).Over time, and with regular work, the promotion identity “Phonic” was born, and this then led to him mixing his first seminal records. In collaboration with Sebastopol, Phonic organised a night to remember called “Rills Night”, which included the first French appearance of Rino Cerrone (Rilis /MB Electronics /Synewave ). Thanks to his Underground musical influences, Phonic offers a varied and eclectic mix that is constantly evolving such as: Dub Techno, House and Techno Groovy.

His recent public appearances, next to numerous DJ’s such as D'Julz (Poker Flat), Electric Rescue (Skryptôm), David Caretta (Gigolo), AHM Trick (Les Nuits Rouges), Jun'X (CITIZEN), D'Jamency (Communiquer Records), Anton X (UMF), Sebastopol (STEREOCENTER)...make Phonic a promising DJ/Producer – definitely one to watch.
