Créé en 2017 en région parisienne, Digital Lover propose un Reggae instrumental atmosphérique aux frontières du Rock, du Dub et de la Synthwave. Pendant 3 ans, Digital Lover a façonné son univers sans se soucier des codes, laissant libre cours à sa créativité. L’enregistrement de son premier EP a été réalisé de façon nomade, au gré de ses voyages à travers la France.

L’EP “Derangement”, qui signifie “Dérèglement” en français, propose un premier opus exclusivement instrumental. Digital Lover y invite l’auditeur par le choix des titres et à travers ses clips à une réflexion sur les différents dérèglements que traverse notre époque. D’entrée de jeu, l’EP s’ouvre sur ce thème avec le titre “Data” qui expose les multiples dérives liées à l’utilisation des données et la nécessité de contrôler les champs d’action de l’IA. “Data” est aussi le premier titre clipé de l’EP et met en lumière les dérives de l’environnement numérique, le piège de l’addiction aux smartphones…. Il a été créé uniquement à base de GIF, placés bout à bout, détournant ainsi un outil du numérique non destiné à cet effet, transformant ces éléments graphiques isolés en un discours.

Created in 2017 in Paris, Digital Lover offers atmospheric instrumental reggae on the edge of rock, dub and synthwave. During the past three years, Digital Lover has shaped his universe regardless of codes and letting his creativity run free. He recorded his first EP nomadically and was largely inspired by the different musical practices he witnessed during his journey around France.

The EP ‘Derangement’ offers an exclusively instrumental first opus. Through his video clips, the choice of titles and its various meanings, the listener is invited to reflect on the deep upheavals of our time. The EP opens with the song ‘Datas’, highlighting the multiple drifts related to data use and the need to control the scope of AI. ‘Data’ is also the first video clip of the EP and it emphasizes the digital environment excesses, the trap of smartphone addiction and so on… It was created solely from GIFs put together, thereby diverting a digital tool and creating a narrative from isolated graphic elements.

Acid Routine

The album I created was inspired by my journey in Central America. Historical places, such as ruins, have a unique spirit that fascinates me. Therefore, the album contains background ambient sounds recorded in Bonampak, Mexico. Additionally, I have included the sounds of children playing in the street to enhance the ambiance. The production process took place in my home studio in Málaga. During the process, I had a spontaneous record with Daniel Gaiser, who kindly contributed to the production by playing his trumpet. The result is a production that reflects different influences, experiences, and moments, which are all mirrored in the sounds.
This album takes you on a jungle trip.

Requiem For A Dub

Joe started 2015 to produce Reggae, Dub and Steppas music in Berlin. His passion is the Sound System Culture. He was a part of the Serendubity family until he moved to Málaga in end of 2019. As an activist for Dub events, he even built his own mobile Sound System for street dances. Not just an selector for Roots and Dub records, he also released few vinyls by himself. Joe’s focus is still into live mixing Dub performance.
