Joe Clews - 'Get Real - The Outdoor' Promo Mini Mix

Had a whole lot of fun with this mix. The overall idea was to progressively transition from a groovy feel to more groovy/upbeat vibes, followed by an introduction of some playful wobbles and ending off with some slightly more driving grooves. Although an opening set at The Eden Experience would entail more downtempo vibes - this mix serves the purpose of showcasing my ideal House set. Although only 30 minutes in length, the mix covers a broader spectrum of House music than a typical 30 minute mix, with the intentention of compacting a much longer set into a shorter space of time without compromising too much of the flow and progression.

‘Grey Clouds’ is a collaborative effort of four young artists based in Cape Town. Producer ‘Joe Clews’, acid rapper ‘Human Error’, singer/songwriter ‘Sober Toby’, and social media mogul ‘Nicole Pollard’ each add their own unique flavour to a new take on South African glitch-hop. Driven by a thick saw arpeggio, and layered with a captivating melody, the song subtly delivers serious undertones, addressing mental health issues, and how we choose to deal with them.

A  DJ/Producer from the United Kingdom, currently residing in Cape Town, South Africa. Joe showed interest in music from a young age - Later being exposed to the electronic music scene, instantly became involved in the industry and began to find his feet - spinning decks at house parties and small clubs. 

Since his first appearance behind the decks , Joe has been seen all over the Cape Town scene. His passion for deep, driving house music is always reflected in his sets - and has landed him on club and outdoor lineups alongside the likes of Gustavo Mota , ILLUZIONIZE , Shapeless,  Franky Rizardo , Wolf Player , Chunda Munki, Strange Loving, Mogey, Dane Stirrat and Chris De Vos to name a few. Joe also held residencies at The Formula, The IT Experience and Club 89. 

For a two year period, Joe hosted the event brand 'Bass Factory' on Fridays at Club IT. The event was graced by some killer headliners supported by the local DJs. Look out for the Bass Factory brand in the future.
