Future Shock

With great sadness I announce the passing of my good friend, bandmate, and Soundcloud artist, mandolinist Patrick Howell.  Some of you knew of his valiant battle with cancer and supported him in prayer and the warmest of well wishes.  He succumbed to the disease July 17, 2023 surrounded by a loving family who helped usher him into the presence of the Lord Jesus.  Besides being a beloved friend and brother in Christ, he was also a muse for me, challenging me to take his little "ditties" and make them into songs.  I will be featuring those songs in the coming weeks in my "Spotlight", but for now I pay tribute to his life and talent with how he beautifully decorated this special song two years ago with his playing.  Rest in the sweetest peace my friend until the Lord awakens you.

This is Chapter 5 of our Elvenland saga. Hope you enjoy :)

As Raewyn ventures along the dark tunnel towards the Portal, she seems to hear whispered warnings echoing around her. Despite her trepidation, she slowly enters, but not before calling on the Ancient Ones to guide her through.

Inside the entrance she encounters the evil & terrifying Tresur Heldros, The Master of the Abyss and, as he speaks, she can hear the wails and laments of tortured souls who ventured there before her. 

However, Raewyn's Elven faith is unconquerable, and, as she bravely prepares to meet whatever fate awaits her, she remembers her ancient teachings.

Chained in a cave by the abyss, she patiently waits....

The Smoking Trout collaborative is back with another installment in the story of the Quest for the Holy Dumpling! On this one, me, Jeff, Uziel, and Stephen are joined by Tot for the first time. He sent us an awesome beat to serve as the rhythmic backbone to this new song. Then Stephen totally funkified it with guitar, Uziel gave a stellar performance on vocals with some original lyrics, and Jeff and I contributed just the right amount of weirdness.  This is a song that Artur wrote in his unique, original, and signature surf rock style, and passed it on to Josh, as a gift. Josh added some bass, and, of course, had to get the rest of the Eclectic Collective involved, too. Ken came up with the energetic, driving beat, perfectly suited for the song. JJ added some really stunning, surfy organ and jamming electric piano. Tez added his signature inspired, powerful lead in the second part. Stephen added his dynamic guitar voice to the first half, and was kind, generous, patient, and talented enough to mix and produce the whole thing.
  I asked Artur the meaning of the song's title, and he told me that it refers to the soulmate some people find, who can carry you through anything, even if you or they may be a little crazy. It's about crazy love!
