This is a tune i originally wrote on guitar in 2004 back in my days of owning Edge Studios in Plymouth. At the time i was sick of making 'four on the floor' house music and wanted to break things up a little.. I was also miffed at DJ's coming to me with loops and samples so i decided to make a tune outta one hits and real instruments. This tune features the fantastic vocals and words of Katie Tokus, AKA 'Mama Tokus' and the wonderful trumpet of Graham Hutton. It also features JImi Galvin on Bass Guitar.
I'm responsible for everything else including some live brush drum kit and gibson 335 guitar courtesy of 'Vibes Music'.  This track was signed to a spanish label called Bubble Soul who released it on vinyl in 2006. It then got picked up by D'mitri from paris (responsible for the group Deelight, most famous for Groovers in the heart) and ended up on a compilation album released by the giant british dance label, Defected.
Bubble Soul however, (Surprise Surprise!) never paid up, so i'm making this track free to download. Love to see them try and sue me.

Say U Wannit J&K Original Mix 2004

A 3 way collaboration between Tanya Balura (Lead Vocals), Rob Congdon (Aka Rob C) and myself. This tune was recorded and produced using a Roland JV2080, an AKAIS3200XL which i still own, and the horrible medium of ADAT, which I am pleased to say i do not!. We made this is in late 1998 or early 1999. I only know this because both rob and I were heavily into Portishead/Red Snapper and Moloko at the time and Moloko's 2nd Album "I Am Not The Doctor" had not long been released. This found its way onto the front cover of a computer magazine as one of the first ever free MPEG 3's as they were then coined.
I loved working with Rob and owe much of my basic production theory and conduct to him to this day.

PinDown featuring Tanya Balura 1998

Probably the most commercial tune of the Edge Studios House Era. Collaboration between Christian, Nick Jones and myself.. Constructed using Reason 1 or 2, Logic 4 or 5 in 2001 many loops and cuts and some live bass to boot.
Was always designed as one for dancing around the handbags in english discotheques!
Unfortunately Christian got signed so this was never released.  

When Im with U - feat' Christian Harling 2001

Rock Chick front woman Julia Dando came to me with her guitarist asking for a change of direction and within 20hrs or so we had laid down and programmed this single entitled Noone. It was pretty clear there was a good working relationship between us so we began working on several a further six exploring various avenues of sound and genre. 
I really enjoyed working on this project. More to follow.

I had so much fun producing and playing on this track.. It was the first one where i fully got to play whatever i wanted on guitar. I remember being pretty chuffed with the guitar melody and i think to this day it still stands up..Shout out to Christian Sleep for this one for his Rhodes Piano skills and to Jimi Galvin who once again provided the bass end. It's also an incredibly odd arrangement and genre in many respects.. I remember wondering what the hell was going on trying to play drums to this.. In the end I stop trying to figure it out and went with the flow! 
Love it or hate it. I had loads of fun.

Recurl - Can't Make Ya Love Me 2003 Copyright Julia Dando With Kind Permission

I made this track in a small room downstairs from the PMC studios 2006.
it was right after i returned to Plymouth after a year long stint recording live gigs for london company mad inertia..
I'd been multi-track recording everyone from Hard Fi to Babyshambles all over the country in venues like Scala and Brixton Academy all the way up to Glastonbury.
Great fun, but mixing live recordings wasn't really doing much for my production skills so when we demo'd a rough outline of this track with just acoustic guitar and vocals, i was keen to do something extra with it.
I had been listening to JT and Kelis a fair amount and I remember buying MJ's 'Invincible' album and thinking "how did this cost $20 million?" 
So this was my attempt at programming R&B with no recording studio and in my spare time
With the exception of vince's voice, original lyrics and top line melody, everything else was played, programmed & recorded by me.
PS There's a sound towards the end that haunts me to this day.. it's all wrong!

Discreet - feat' Tanya Balura - 1998

Hi there!
Sorry i haven't been uploading anything for you all but all that is about to change over the coming weeks as I embark on a mission to upload some  productions from days gone by.
I figure it would be nice to have it all in the same place and not on some old drive where it may get lost forever like so much of my early work.
All comments gratefully received.. Please bare in mind some of this will be over 10yrs old though but I will do my best to add dates when and where I can remember them x
