DJ 20+yrs  & Festival promoter, Joe 90 Conneely,  founded Vibes on a Summer's Day at Bondi Pavilion. It launched in 1994 with the English DJ pairing of Norman Jay & Gilles Peterson, with many local acts & DJs  included that had yet to break commercially.

The festival expanded over 10 years to tour other capital cities and New Zealand introducing many to international artists including Jamiroquai, Bentley Rhythm Ace, Rae & Christian, Groove Armada & the Propellerheads.
