WEEK 54/52: Song For a Girl I Never Met

Haven't written anything really upbeat in a while, and truthfully I didn't really like where this one was going after I started it quite early in the month. I came up with the verse progression and some opening lyrics, felt good about it, and came back to it a week later to punch it up, only to abandon it and try to write something more "complex." This has been a common thread over the course of the last 3 years or so doing this challenge. There have been a lot of false starts, and so when it was coming down to the wire and I had no ideas, I decided that now was as good a time as any to see what happens if I just commit to the first idea. The refrain, second verse and bridge came pretty quickly after that. Got a very rough live demo recorded on my phone, but hey, it's done. And (as I say about many of the songs I've written as part of this challenge) might be worth revisiting somewhere down the line.
