Morning Song

NOTE: please be seated solidly and in a non-moving place when you play this. An imaginal exploration of the sonicity of the out-breath: wings, wind-whistles, and altitude. I was trying to see what new non-pitched sounds I could make, and how to mix that with my usual vocal sounds. I also tried to mix "singing" with more birdcall-like sounds. A studio recording of my usual vocal improv, given shape and depth by Kyle Oppenheimer. This was a wedding gift I did for a friend, HK artist Wong Kit Yi. She had previously introduced me to Kyle for a work of hers, so I thought it'd be nice to have him on board to zhuzh up this wedding gift idea for Ali. I sourced the title, Transition Anxiety from listening to something she'd said in one of our conversations. Recorded on September 12 2021 at Chan Friend Studios, HK.

Hi I'm Joee. I'm female. When I was 9 years old, I tried to play the piano. I also tried to play the bass. I used to play the sax too. But I'm really a drummer. My first band used to cover metal bands. Then, I was making beats for my band Saffron Speedway and my duo Stormy.  I also make beats and sing for Loveless and Tales of Ordinary Madness.
