Inspired by my daughter, and likely influenced by having just watched the Beatles documentary Get Back, this one was recorded in 2022.

Eleanor's Theme

A cover of the song Bones by Radiohead, from The Bends. Recording dates back to the early days of the pandemic. This project was really driven by the guitar work of Sam and Joe. Bass and vocals provided by me (did my best to channel Thom Yorke, within the constraints of a much more limited vocal range). Drums, as always, come from Steve.

This was written as a follow up to Eleanor's Theme... once you've written a tune for your daughter, how do you tell your son that you haven't written one for him yet? As the name implies, this one's for him!

One For Ben

This unnamed, instrumental track is a relic from the Feltman Building sessions in downtown Toledo, OH (2006). Credit to Sam Ross on guitar and Steve Pigott on drums for helping me build some improv around a slap riff I'd been messing around with for a while.

A shelter-in-place experiment, reuniting The Car Accidents. This is a cover of the Pearl Jam song Mankind, from the album No Code. The collaboration was done remotely, started off by Sam with rhythm and lead guitars. I subsequently added bass and vocals. And finally, e-drums were provided by Steve.

Mankind (Pearl Jam)

A rough, but fairly complete take on one of my more recent ideas, this song was the product of too much cable news exposure during some heated political times. This is also the first track recorded (mostly) in the basement at Tappan St, Columbus, OH. Guitar, bass, and vocals were all done on my own via the MOTU Audio Express interface. Drums were added later by Steve using a Roland electronic kit at the Casa di Citta. 

Re-election

The instrumental portion of this track comes from the Feltman Building sessions, December 2006. Somewhere, on an old hard drive, there exists a "demo" version with the original vocals. Having lost that in the shuffle, these are recently re-recorded vocals, done in the basement at 321. Steve on drums, and Sam on guitar. 

Can't Stay Awake

This is another tune w/ origins going back to the Village Green days (Troy, MI -- c. 2010). Re-done in June 2013 after a partial version was recorded in a live session by Joel and Steve at Casa di Citta (Columbus, OH). Additions made in the Basement at 321, and Sam's Chicago apt. Mixdown done at 321.
