Hi, my name is Joel Basquin and I love music. I love how it can evoke different emotions. How it can sooth your soul and yet enliven any room, compelling you to jump up out of your seat and dance until your feet hurt. It's fascinating to experience the way music, fused together with dialogue or lyrics, can bring you into a new world. Music is a very powerful tool that helps us tell our stories. It certainly helped me tell mine. I grew up in New York City. The city where you can find music almost everywhere you go. At the age of 5, I was formally introduced to music. My brother was having his first piano lesson and my heart was instantly drawn to the sound coming out of the keyboard speaker. It was almost as if the piano was screaming my name and beckoning me to come play it. When my brother had finished his lesson, I immediately walked over to the keyboard, started pushing down keys, and I fell in love right then and there. My love for music would later set me on a path to learning multiple instruments like the organ, trumpet, baritone, trombone, and acoustic guitar. This love I possess for music, coupled with the grace of God, have opened doors for me to play at historic places like The Blue Note and The Bitter End. Opportunities to play at government functions and many churches across the east coast came along as well. I am now a composer, arranger, instrumentalist, and audio engineer located in New York City. If you know me, you know that I love the recording process. Most of my work is done in Abelton, Logic and Pro Tools. Creating and discovering musical ideas are part of my daily routine. When a blank session becomes a masterpiece, it's one of the most fulfilling things in the world. What's most exciting about the process is the collaboration. You can create great music, while building strong friendships and bonds. Music has such a profound influence on people. I hope my music will change the world one note at a time.
