In Pompeii - People Say

In a place where I shouldn’t be.
Over the railroads I go.
Pointing tried and true,
I put my right foot forward,
Not expecting much.
But against all odds,
I soon then found your touch.

In a place where I shouldn’t be.
Over the drawn lines I go.
Clinically clean and,
I’ll be examined

Salt flats know me now.
Imagination’s feeling now,
The absence of, common sense.

It’s an unfamiliar scenery stamp,
Felled woodlands and a runway strip.
I pitch my tent in the middle.

I stake my claim for the night,
But I run away in fright,
From an all-too-familiar sight.

Embarrassed and not proud,
A bit confused.
