For our third official release Ransaked Records are very proud to present the five-track monster that is The Funk EP by Rise.We first welcomed Rise to the label on the Ransaked Frequency LP where his tune Columbia was one of the standout hits and, since then, he’s gone on to absolutely crush it with an EP on Liondub International, that charted in the Beatport top ten, and a string of well received free downloads.

Now back with the gang, the vibes are flowing and Rise is firing on all cylinders with four slammers, rounded off with a sick remix from Brazil’s finest Dunk. He really isn’t messing about either and goes absolutely in from the first tune, showcasing his tightly produced, sub-low, sample-heavy style in epic fashion. Far from being a one trick pony, The Funk EP has a couple of special moves. From the sick shuffles on Steady Blazin to the balls-out relentless vibe on Less Talk, to the funky minimal vibrations on the appropriately named The Funk, the EP is a beast of many different faces, all of them equally gully. Rounding off the EP is a standout remix of The Funk, expertly engineered by the one and only Dunk.

Kartoons has always been a label to support talent, no matter how long the producer has been in the game and this can certainly be said for the ‘Headpiece’ EP by DJ Gaw. A true unrestricted artist that certainly ticks all of Nicky Blackmarket’s boxes when it comes to his labels criteria. Vibes from the past, vibes for the future.

Gaw brings along Bruk for some back to back production duties on ‘Badman Selecta’ where a bunch of dreamy pads are chucked in momentarily before all kinds of wonky, off key business kicks off. ‘Fadeaway’ takes a ton of feelings from the label's heritage with breakbeats and sub rolls straight out of ‘96. What you have here is nothing short of a love letter to Hysteria and One Nation.

EP title track ‘Headpiece’ keeps that similar vibe running, taking inspiration from even further back. It’s got a nice pre jump up jungle vibe going on so if you experienced Jungle Mania in ‘94, just close your eyes and flick the switch.

‘Here We Go’ locks off the EP, bringing the mood up to date and adding in an element of darkside danger. It’s a ruthless chunk of music that guarantees to switch up the dance in seconds.

If this EP is anything to go by, expect much more from Gaw in 2020.
