Zeta Reticula returns to Mechatronica with a radiant tale of astronomical phenomena and deep-space molecular development - a more than ideal backdrop to the EP's four powerful and diverse electro tracks, built by the acclaimed Slovenian producer also known as Umek.

Following up on his "I Am Mensch" record released on our label last year, Zeta Reticula takes the listener on a light-speed journey from the earliest organic compounds, past the dazzling formation formation of life, between orbiting double stars - and finally into the unknown, stretching obscurely far-reaching parsec units.

Falling Ethics Records is branching out with it's brand new sub-division ''Moral Standards''. The first release in the new series is a 4-tracker by label owner P.E.A.R.L.

On the A-side we find No Fall Damage Part 1 & 2. The first part is on the emotive side, combining the drumwork P.E.A.R.L is known for with an extended synth line that provides a minor melancholic touch. On the second part, things are turned up a notch, with increased emphasis on percussion elements and vocal chops. A nervous sounding short synth-line creeps in that helps build the strong ambience of this version.

On the B-side, Matrixxman and Blue Hour provide remixes for ''We Will Not All Fall''.

For the B1, the Matrixxman remix is a mechanic and big sounds sounding piece of work using a sub-low bass that's reminiscent of early dubstep records. The Blue Hour remix is a break beat and trance infused cut using a taint of acid to lift the whole to a dancefloor oriented piece of work.

Young Italian duo Reform return to Second State with their latest release, four tracks of innovative, hard-hitting and unusually sophisticated techno.

The throbbing kick and trippy synths of “Close Encounters” opens the EP, with a foreign, clipped vocal and breaksy jungle elements adding further interest and mystique. “Stance”, meanwhile, is a straight-up stomper packed with ricocheting percussion, rubbery synth blasts and disorienting pads, all crying to be heard in a club. “Mind Control” demands to rain down on a crowd at a festival, too. A lean, nimble build steadily escalates into an irresistible, shuffling beat boosted by shifting, bouncy synth patterns and an unrelenting forward momentum. The pair’s unusual knack for blending disparate elements into something atypical but completely danceable is perhaps best demonstrated on “Horse Riding”. The drums are tribal, the stabs are acid-like, there’s a gauzy filter laid over the top, and tickling hi-hats, but also an undeniable thump commanding bodies to move.

Put simply, this dream team from Tuscany are making music well beyond their years that stands up beside the work of veterans (and is often more interesting). We’re honored to have Reform back at Second State!

Border One debuts on Token with the Radon EP.

The artist’s first outing on the label gathers up four more floor focused recordings, whilst maintaining the rich, low-sunk atmospherics characteristic of so much of his popular work. Dense and propulsive, the EP majors on leftfield sound design, with synth abstractions underpinned by warm, pulsating polyrhythms.

Opener Tracer sets the tone for the record with sleek, swung sequences sparring and panning off one another. Each component shifts and develops neatly over its run time lending the recording an exciting live element. Split, the EP’s most obvious main room missive, strikes from the first kick drum - classy and well worked, the recording marries tight snare rolls & a tripped out breakdown without losing any sense of style. Nuclide opens the B side, and continues in this same, effervescent vein - channelling pure peak time energy. Title track Radon closes the EP - a stunning exercise in purist techno that places its emphasis on a single repetition to great effect, buoying the work with occasional flourishes that serve to propel the track on towards its end. A top tier release from a certified talent within the contemporary Techno genre.

Brazilian producer Marcal joins Rekids Special Projects series with a rumbling five-track techno release this September.

Releasing on labels such as Phobiq and Sam Paganini’s JAM, Marcal has been turning heads for some years now with regular support from iconic names like Len Faki, Adam Beyer, Charlotte de Witte, and more. Adding Radio Slave to that list, Marcal now joins Rekids Special Projects with arguably his most exceptional release to date.

‘Ainozama’ opens the package with pace as banging drums, offbeat clicks and a murky low-end lay the foundation for rave inspired screeches. ‘Cherry On Top’ is next with its metallic synths, pitter-patter percussion and scintillating atmospherics, leading into the relentless and undulating groove of ‘Heart Race’ which comes complete with sci-fi inspired bleeps. The final two tracks on the package see Marcal collaborate: firstly with Andc and Gabal on the high-octane, hypnotic and squelchy ‘Estado de Transe’; before Marcal teams up with Hosben for the twisted and rattling ‘Renoir’.

As the pandemic continues to put a halt on clubbing as we knew it, techno dons Pan-Pot have adapted their sound to suit these uncertain times. The dancefloor focus remains, but on their latest EP,  there’s a restraint and delicacy to the tracks that reveals yet another facet of the duo’s creativity, and innate understanding of what their fans want to hear right now. 
 
“Keid” builds slowly with rustling percussion, insistent tapping and a sneaky, smouldering bassline that bypasses the predictable massive drop for something moodier and more subtle. Exotic jungle sounds, tribal drums and cool bleeps open the atmospheric “Planet9”, which soon pivots towards a thrilling build and ravey arpeggios that sound ripe for dank basement clubs and open-air festivals alike. “Echoes from Epsilon” is probably the most unexpected track of the lot. Five and a half minutes of ambience is characterised by airy pads, windchime synths, and a transportative, meditative air that is light years away from Pan-Pot’s typical fare. 
 
At once timeless and completely of the moment, Keid is a surprising, refreshing release from the industry veterans that should both please old fans and win new ones.
