This is a track ‘Burn Like Fire’ off an up and coming album that has been put on hold for obvious reasons. This is the closest I have to being finished with the majority of Native and the Name band members playing on it! I would’ve loved to have backing vocals and brass but social distancing means it can’t be completed yet. Hope you enjoy it and we look forward to releasing the whole album ‘Time back way Back” in the near future!

Freelance musician and composer Joe Rose has been playing and creating music since he was a boy. Classically trained in voice and violin (Grade 8 Distinction in both), and playing guitar, banjo, piano, bass, accordion and drums, he has all the resources necessary to compose perform and record a wide range of music.

Joe has been gigging for just over a decade and is currently writing, recording and performing with his band Native and the Name. The musicians in the band are bass player and vocalist Jack Rose, piano player, vocalist and song writer Esther Allan, drummer David Baker and versatile brass players Anthony Thompson and Matt Ingram. All the tracks for albums by Native and the Name were recorded and produced at Joe's own studio in Sheffield.

The studio is well equipped with the latest in recording equipment and professional instruments and commands a large hall which has been used to record choirs, string sections, woodwind and of course live performances from Native and the Name.

Joe has had a long career in the music industry. After leaving school he went straight into Steelworks  studio in Sheffield where he wrote and recorded for two years with Tim Lever of Dead Or Alive. This led on to Joe's first band The Guild being signed to Island Records and to the release of  their single Till I'm Dust . Till I'm Dust was used in the soundtrack for the film Doghouse and has become a bench mark in Joe's career. Soon afterwards The Guild  formed a lasting relationship with producer and top sound engineer Mike Timm and Joe has regularly produced and recorded with him.

Joe's next signing was with Warner Brothers Music as a singer song writer. This period was spent mostly in London writing and recording with a wide range of artists and companies including: Liam Howe (Sneaker Pimps) Tim Wills (Ian Brown), Ian Archer (Snow Patrol), Will South (Thirteen Senses), Tom Gray (Gomez),  Syco and Martin Glover (Youth).

A highlight for Joe was having a music video produced and directed by Nick Park, creator of Wallace and Gromit for Plain Song, one of Nick's eight choices on Radio 4's Desert Island Discs.

In 2012 Joe's song Everything You Need was the soundtrack for the last closing montage for the BBC's broadcast of the 2012 Olympics.

Two Native and the Name albums and an EP have already been released, as well as writing a song commissioned for a Sheffield Youth Choir and co-writing and producing session vocals for Dance music group Pearson and Hirst. As an ambitious personal project he has embarked on turning Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment into an opera/musical.

Recently Joe has begun work on a film score that is in production.

Joe continues to create big, fun, anthemic, sweet, eclectic music.
