The History Of Dub: 2020's

Joe Vincent pulls together a focus on the Dub legend that is Scientist. Concentrating on his time at Channel One Studio in the early 80’s when his output was prolific, the show delves deep into Scientists signature sound, and many of the tracks featured were released in the final days of analogue production before digital technology took over. Fresh from his apprenticeship at King Tubbys, Scientist arrived at Channel One in 1980 ready to let himself loose on their 16 track mixing desk, what followed is stuff of legends and the music created remains revered to this day. Along with Henry “Junjo” Lawes, Scientist mixed productions from some legendary vocalists including Barrington Levy, Al Campbell, Johnny Osbourne, Hugh Mundell and Sammy Dread amongst others. These recordings formed a distinct sound that pushed Dub to new level of popularity and had an enormous influence on the creation and development of other genres, most notably Jungle, Drum n Bass and Dubstep.
