Program notes: 
"there have been days" is based on several fragments of field recordings of natural environments layered on top of one another. These recordings inform the timings, overall impression, and, to some extent, the textures in the piece. Inevitably, though, processes of transcription alter the source material. The piece is not an attempt to capture environments as “realistically” as possible, but rather an exploration of what changes when we translate the natural world into art.
