Joey Smokem is an exciting musician from the south-west of England. He has been playing and writing all types of music for the last 20 or so years. His musical education started young on the classical guitar, switching to electric guitar in his teenage years. Soon after buying an Atari ST and cubase the days and nights of programming started. Joey wrote mostly dub to begin with, working with Pete-Rurals on the 'Tsumami Sound Wave' project. Then HipHop, recording with First-Aid for Critically Ill, The Verbal Werzels, Project Cee, Task-force and others. Then came five years of 'The Thujones'. Joey Smokem's brainchild to fuse banging dance music with a live band format. Teaming up with Bren, Laura, Jack and Sharky along the way, this band had a truely innovative sound.
Joey has locked himself into his new studio and only leaves for water, recently working with Laura Thujone on her solo e.p. and Matthew Plummie, (a talented poet from Wales have you?) on the Bolas project.
