Love Above Records is proud to present our second annual compilation: Home By 909. Another quality collection of house music reflecting on the year that has been.

There is no denying that 2021 was weird. Melbourne was subject to lockdowns with a 9pm curfew, and like many other parts of the world, live music was put on hold indefinitely. Our first annual compilation focussed on the themes of 2021 and it felt only fitting that our second compilation did the same. From this, ’Home by 909’ was born (with a nod to Roland of course!!).

Here at Love Above Records we have always strived to create a community of like minded house-music heads. Our space is open for all kinds of producers to share their variations of house music with the world. We have cast our net far and wide, and have managed to compile a monster 20-track release clocking in at just under 2 hours of listening.  

Home by 909 warms up with lush soundscapes before entering into deep house cuts and ending in total dance floor territory. This compilation rewards those who are committed.

We are thrilled to present Alchemy by Joey Coco. Since being a member of one of the hardest working Hip-Hop bands in Australia, touring nationally and internationally, Joey has given in to his childhood love of house music, quickly playing clubs and festivals all over Australia. With years of experience in song-writing and performing, Joey Coco brings a welcomed soulful sound to his productions. His track 'Alchemy' is no exception. Joey Coco has released on adorned labels such as Refuge Recordings, Nervous (NYC), Moodyhouse (ESP) and Music Is 4 Lovers.

Toronto house music stalwart Jason Hodges teams up with Melbourne's Joey Coco for a chunky house jam with a hot remix from the legendary DJ Dove for the increasingly strong Aussie imprint Refuge Recordings. Pacey yet deep. 'Opus' channels soulful vocals, skippy percussive rhythms, sprightly synth chords and hard-funking bass. JC's Vocal Mix lets the sweet vox take centre stage, with a stripped-back version coming in the form of Hodges' Dubtool. New Jersey pioneer DJ Dove provides a killer remix, with undulating, queasy, booming bass tones snaking under hard-hitting drums, big snare roll-driven breaks and a dash of techno intensity.
