but i find it hard to love what i am made of

to remind myself of what it is to be

summer air, 
and the forest trails to Kings Park 
or in the tunnel, 
beneath Chancellor’s Road in the dark
and all the lies, 
on the roads that we biked through South Pointe
were in my mind, 
as the river flowed north

love is not what i’m afraid of
but i find it hard to love what i am made of
i’m slowing down and taking my time
to find out what and which is of mine
talking about it makes me nervous
and it convinces me that i deserve this

does it bring you down?
does it hold you back until you’re not out?
does it fill your bones?
does it keep you from the people you know?
is it all my fault
if i don't feel a thing when i fall?
am i not okay?
because i feel like i’m defined by my mistakes
