To Live And Let Go

Program notes:

This piece was inspired by my personal medical problems with my left wrist and hand. I broke my arm at age 11 and from there developed an ulnar impaction, or an over-long ulna, which affected my playing ability for about four years. Finally, in the summer of 2015, I had surgery done to shorten the ulna, which made my left hand rather useless for about six months. During those months I began this piece, as a tribute to myself – who, after two surgeries am still having difficulties with my left arm – and anyone else who may suffer similar problems.

The idea of this work is to be able to play it without use of the left arm at all, although those who have conventionally functioning left arms can certainly perform it. If the player has no use of their left arm, it is recommended that they find a way to hold the viola securely on their shoulder, whether it be a specific technology to strap the instrument to their shoulder or their own ability to hold the instrument via the chinrest. There are some techniques within the piece that are very disruptive to even a two-handed hold on the instrument, so caution is advised when performing.

A piece I did as part of a film score for the short film "dis--connect" by Kellie Etling. The main character is exploring themselves and finding that they may not be entirely what they thought they were.

Exploration (That Bridge Looks Familiar)

A compiled score of the OST I created for "The Picture in the House" by Sutter Kane. Based on the story by H.P. Lovecraft, this short horror film follows a young man trying to escape the pain of a lost loved one, and ends up in a cabin in the woods owned by a very strange and sinister old man.
