Tlou Joseph Phaka (born November 24, 1998), performing as Joey Zef, is a South African upcoming rapper, songwriter and record producer. His intricate songwriting and unconventional beat-making seeks to elevate and refurbish Hip-Hop in South Africa as means to grow it and keep it alive. 
Born in Soweto, Johannesburg, and raised in the townships Diepsloot, Johannesburg and Olievenhoutbosch, Pretoria. In 2013 , Joey co-founded Olievenhoutbosch’s elite rap crew Young Niggas Gangbustas alongside Fame Bluezy and J. Chris. Under this crew his local recognition quickly grew and the crew became a huge part of his identity. The crew welcomed new members and sparked a movement like no other. This is where Joey’s lyricism reached new heights.
