Episode 383 brings a special mix from the one, OSL!! People who are familiar with OSL have undoubtedly been battering his Deep Jungle and AKO History mixes! 

OSL's mix is a flawless combo of classics, current tunes, and forthcoming biz!! His mix draws you in with drumfunk, crisp amens, and steppers, the pressure then builds and rolls out with filthy, razor sharp amens!! The outro eases a bit featuring beautifully melodic, amen tunes and breaks with ethereal vocals! OSL' s mix is an amazing measure in patience, planning, and exquisite mix and blen! You lot are going to love this one!

Let's meet our selectah, OSL:

During the 80’s I was a hip hop kid and was already collecting vinyl but towards the end of the decade I was getting more into the house, techno, hardcore and rave scene that was emerging. The Haçienda played a huge part in this along with some of the other nights I went to around the North West. In 1990 I bought my first Technics 1210, then the second in 1991 and that’s when the DJ’ing and serious vinyl collecting properly started. 

1992 saw me move to Hackney in East London and in November of that year I secured my first pirate radio slot on Mad B’s Format FM based in the same neighbourhood. The emerging jungle sound from London was my music of choice and gave me my DJ name ‘OSL’ which stood for Original Sounds of London. My weekly set on Format was every Sunday at 11pm after young duo called Swift & Zinc and that lasted until the stations closure. In 1996 I joined Rinse FM and was a regular for a year before it became the legal station we know today. During this time, I regularly played at small club nights and events around East London. I was also making beats in the studio on many projects which never saw the light of day, although I was part of the first release on Intalex Recordings with the track Soothe My Soul that I worked on with ST Files in 1995.

DJ'ing took a back seat for many years until I met up with DJ’s from the Dream FM UK family in 2015 and was offered the chance to play tunes again. I’ve since played at Rupture, Distant Planet, The Dirty Dozen and Brighton Loves Jungle. Also guest spots on LifeFM internet radio plus created podcast mixes for Vykhod Sily, The Jungle List and Everyday Junglist and created history mixes for independent labels Deep Jungle Records and AKO Beatz.

My sets will typically contain plenty of broken beats, amens, funky bass lines and classic tracks.
