Abri is a composition I wrote for @8dio.productions / @Soundpaint to demo their new Glass Marimba and is a feature track for the library. 

Set in 11/4, Abri is a delicate exploration of the crystalline sounds of the Glass Marimba. The opening section, uneasy and ghostly, focuses on the clear tones of the glass marimba, picking out a twisted melody with the soft mallet articulation. After a pivotal crescendo featuring 8Dio's Century Strings, a reharmonisation of the melody finds a sheltered, inviting mood, inspiring the title Abri.

I enjoyed the sounds in this library, and the production possibilities for this unusual instrument are broader than you may think. If you want to hear the Glass Marimba in action, listen to the first four bars of Abri that feature only sounds from the Glass Marimba library.

I've recently joined the @8dio.productions / @Soundpaint demo team. It's a real honour to have been chosen as a composer for this role, especially as there were so many applicants for the opening. 

I wrote Per Ardua Ad Astra as a demonstration piece for the beautiful textures and ambience included in the new sample library Ad Astra Ambiences by Soundpaint.

Per Ardua Ad Astra

The Polyphon is a 300-pound behemoth music box with a most delicate and exquisite sound. Unlike its size might suggest, the Polyphon is the perfect instrument for an Elfman-esque fantasy soundtrack, and I've used it here in my latest demo for @8dio.productions / @Soundpaint in just that way. My composition, Wednesday's Waltz, is an ode to the TV show Wednesday and the wonderful music of Danny Elman.
