Under the River Water (2015)

ICHI`s new single GO GAGAMBO has been receiving much airplay on BBC6music, XFM, Amazing Radio and Resonance FM. Recorded onto analogue 8-track tape and released on TOKI DOKI RECORDS opens with a universally recognisable mosquito hum, then proceeds with a catchy, familiar-sounding bass line, strummed out on a long, thin insect-like home-made instrument (Stilt-Bass), while the vocals are punk-like, small and high-pitched, in the language of the insect itself. It's a song about mistaken identity - (gagambo is an insect unfortunate enough to be mistaken as a big mosquito, resulting in probable death by angry clapping hands), and it is a clever blend of the familiar and the bizarre. ICHI`s simple concepts and playful presentation have universal appeal.

3rd March 2020 - New music for the new growth of the season. These are two tunes written for the Cabm Pymp or (Cornish five-step) dance, and arranged for Cittern and Guitar. I was tempted to do some more multi-tracking but it seemed like there was enough going on already

The mood of a beautiful summer morning at dawn.

Dayspring

British pianist and composer exploring the boundaries of classical contemporary music. Notable influences include Phillip Glass, Olafur Arnalds, Nils Frahm, Tigran Hamasyan, Arvo Part and Michael Nyman. His debut solo album "Under the River Water", described as an improvisational minimal ode to the landscape of Dartmoor in which he grew up, was recorded in one take at Alice's Loft Studio in London and released in December 2015. Since its release tracks have been featured on various radio stations including BBC Radio 3 and local radio. 
He is currently working on his second release aimed more at exploring intricate and complex patterns and utilising more of his technical capabilities as a pianist. "Rhythm and timing is something that has fascinated me for a long time but out of a sense of safety I had avoided exploring these aspects. Naturally I have always been drawn and had a tendency to delve and focus more into the melodic aspects of music. I was interested in melody very early, becoming entranced by simple lines and tunes, its only more recently that the rhythmic side has captured my enthusiasm. Perhaps that's down to Tigran, a big inspiration of mine, who is a master of rhythmic experimentation".
