Critical Music reaches its 100th release in its 15th year, celebrating with the landmark album ‘Fifteen Years Of Underground Sonics’. Spanning the broad spectrum of drum & bass that the Critical sound represents, the exceptional ‘15’ album is as bold as it is beautiful and looks to serve the test of time in the D&B history books.

“Over the past 15 years the label I started as a hobby, as a way to involve myself in drum and bass, has taken over my life. I’m so lucky to have worked with such incredible artists, have them realise their creativity, and travelled all over the world spreading the sound I love.

I deliberated for a long time over what type of record we should put together to celebrate reaching both our 15th birthday and 100th release. I like to think of us as a label that looks forward, that focuses on what the future holds and on how to make statements without sacrificing our core ideals, to release exciting music centred around the 170bpm tempo. So with this in mind I wanted the LP to be about where the label is now and where it’s going, a snapshot of the music that represents the Critical sound by core label acts and some choice friends.

The 10,000 strong party drew together DJs, fans, listeners, singers, live acts and MCs together to showcase every shade and style encompassing a 174 heartbeat. As the Finsbury Park fun continues and round two promising even bigger stage takeovers and a myriad of artist weaponry, we present an equally bursting drum & bass double disc, the ‘Hospitality In The Park 2017’ LP.

In the same vein as our all-day summer special, this huge 70 track mash-up spans across a full 360’ perspective of the genre; representing the established, up and coming, soulful, obscure, liquid, innovative, dark, techy, neuro, jungle style and everything in between.

Included are over 25 brand new exclusives from reputable drum & bass titans Danny Byrd, S.P.Y, Makoto and Keeno, there are VIPs from Metrik and Nu:Logic, remixes from Hugh Hardie, Total science, Camo & Krooked and Calibre, and a ‘Bullet Proof’ banger from Krakota.

Across two mixed CDs we’ve drawn for this year’s surefire summer weapons with Fred V & Grafix, The Prototypes, 1991, High Contrast, The Upbeats, Breakage in the mix. With this year’s Incubator stage pulling artists that are rising through the ranks, up and comers’ Whiney, Unglued, GLXY and Kyrist bring exciting new offerings to the compilation.

Both fans and artists came together from all over the globe last year and we expect no less in 2017. Equally, this compilation gives an international perspective covering all corners of the globe from Japan’s Mountain, the USA’s Flite and Ownglow, the Netherlands Black Sun Empire and New Zealand's Shapeshifter.

They’re back! Liquid powerhouse GLXY aka Jonathan Campbell and Tom Alston, have been making some serious waves in the DnB scene since their debut release with us in 2015. With impressive work on labels like Spearhead & Limitless as well as having featured on Hospital’s We Are 21 compilation at the start of the year, the duo are returning to Soulvent as if they never left – if a little older and wiser. The Butterfly Effect EP is a classic offering from the pair, showcasing their languid style of production in 3 original tracks, one of which sees an overdue collaboration with Hospital’s own Hugh Hardie & veteran wordsmith Visionobi. Not to forget a remix of last year’s Lonely featuring Belle Humble completes the duo’s record.

Butterfly Effect features friends & contemporaries in the form of mic controller Visionobi and Bristolian golden-boy Hugh Hardie – hot off the release of his debut album. Opening with tenuous, shimmering tones and hypnotising lyrics, the drop culminates in the trademark GLXY sound.

Transmitter EP

Enei & Kasra - Transmitter (ft. Jakes)

Ahead of his upcoming, star-studded next album Carnal Mind, Brazilian producer L-Side is teasing out one of its focal points in the MC Fats-assisted "High Times". As the whiplash-inducing beats rip through the snarling, grizzled bass, MC Fats delivers some melodic, uplifting vocals to smooth out the track's otherwise jagged edges. Elsewhere on the album (due April 6), there are appearances from Jeru The Damaja, DRS, Lady Chann, Darrison and MC Conrad, all iconic rave MCs in their own right.

To get all those artists in the same place is achievement enough, but "High Times" hints at an album that is more than the sum of the guest appearances.
