Stanley Schmidt is a young House-DJ and Producer from Leipzig, Germany. He is resident at Homopatik, a monthly party at ://about blank in Berlin and co-founder of the vinyl-only-label Rivulet Records. He switches easily between certain styles of House and also Techno - as long as there is love and passion in it - just the same that he puts in his own productions. In 2012 his first record was released on Rivulet Records.

John & On has been working in electronic music for over a decade, previously running parties and DJing in London and more recently as a booking agent based in Berlin. He has always had a love for weird and wonderful records, spending many hours knelt on the floors of charity shops in the UK fingering through the mountains of Perry Como and Tony Bennett LPs to dig out that Russian folk music collection or the 2001: A Space Odyssey soundtrack. When Johanna asked if he would like to do a podcast, it seemed like a good opportunity to do something a bit different (and also to freak out Johanna who probably wasn't quite sure what to expect), so his fetish for film and TV soundtracks seemed like as good a theme as any to turn to. The result is heavily-laden with electronic sci-fi music and other synth-led sounds from the 50's to the 80's with a pinch of folk and porn soundtrack thrown in. Some things will be very recognisable and others less so but overall, rather than a too-weird-to-listen-to experience, it is meant to be something strangely pleasurable that you can enjoy at home whilst polishing your bowling ball collection or kicking back with a nice puzzle.

"I worked on this mix for a really long time (I tend to put too much thought into things that should be fun but ends up in a stressful mess). I planned and prepared a bunch of records; but  nothing came out reflecting what I wanted to get across to your readers that maybe never have heard of me or my music before.
Then it happened all of a sudden; I was fckn furious when I recorded this mix (for different personal reasons) but in the end it was the best that could happen. Just letting go of all thoughts and letting the music take over, and in the end I had so much fun that Saturday afternoon by myself in my house that I managed to record it in one go finally. Enjoy!"

For the whole of this week, we will be celebrating International Women’s Day with our ‘Celebrating Women in Music’ campaign. Through DJ Charts, statements, mixes and more, we aim to highlight some of the talented and incredible women in the music scene and discuss how we can shape a more gender-balanced world

@johannaknutsson is undoubtedly one of the most talented artists in the electronic music scene today. With an extensive back catalogue, Knutsson founded the vinyl only cult label Zodiac 44 with Luca Lozano and also co runs UFO Station Records with Hans Berg. 

Using these imprints and labels such as Crime City Disco, Random Island and more to release her own music while also making regular appearances at clubs such as Berghain, Knutsson is continuing to develop as an artist with an alluring and otherworldly approach to djing.  

She also plays live as a solo artist and with the group Circle Of Live and she will be releasing her debut album "Tollarp Transmissions" will be released at the end of April. For her International Women’s Day mix, Knutsson goes deep into the realms of electronica and techno.

Oscillate Tracks 003 is the first split EP featuring resident Johanna Knutsson and alumni Karen Gwyer. The two performed together early last year, Karen live with her shimmering textures before Johanna introduced her bleepy tales. Their musical affinity was easily recognisable and our aim was to bring their dynamic connection from one fleeting experience onto the enduring form of a record. 

On Johanna’s side, the Swedish producer plays with tempo and panning, constructing vast soundscapes on the backdrop of a dubbed-out alternating bass drum with refrains from her Nord synth rippling throughout. On the flip we find Karen exploring melancholic ambient IDM, layering sparkling notes over lush melodies interlaced with rapid percussions, forming utterly exquisite works of art.

LAPSUS RADIO 246 - Johanna Knutsson

In light of the current Covid-19 Pandemic Studio Enisslab headed up by Italian DJ / Producer and Live Act Neel has announced the release of a very special 56 track charity compilation project, fundraising for The Red Cross, who are working extremely hard alongside health services internationally that are feeling the effects of the corona-virus outbreak the most right now. The compilation is available for a limited time via Bandcamp and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to The Red Cross to help the world’s most affected countries in the Covid-19 pandemic.

This special release features over 6 hours of previously unreleased and unheard material, where an all star cast of artists were encouraged to share music that reflects this time we are living in.

Neel, who is one half of live duo Voices From The Lake, and LF58 speaks out on behalf of the initiative, organised in collaboration with improvised live project Circle Of Live, and visual art collective Sbagliato. He explains:

“In this situation we all need to look after each other and this project is a start. I wanted to reach as many people as possible to spread this message, so I started to share the idea personally with lots of artists and the response was amazing. I wanted them to take their time with whichever tools they had available at home to produce some music that reflects this time we are living in, a contribution for this special project and to portray a special message.”

The project’s cover art image brought to you by visual art collective Sbagliato shows pictures of windows of houses and studios taken by the artists themselves: 56 musicians, 56 windows, 56 tracks shape a new place of sharing.

Johanna moves around effortlessly between genres; riding on rhythms, drums and sounds; incorporating hard-hitting house, acid, breakbeat and electro - a fantasy of spacey, deep, hard uncompromising music sans aggression. She creates a landscape for you to travel into with her, whether it is a soaring BPM-trip or a soothing private carpet ride, she wants you to feel comfortable and grounded. She connects with you and sees her set as a wordless interaction where energy and motion fluxes freely.
