The touching Stabat Mater by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi is perhaps the most famous version of the Stabat Mater, a cycle of songs about Virgin Mary. The final number he wrote when he was on his deathbed (1736). Pergolesi had in fact very dangerous TBC which was caused that he died at the age of 26.
