Drum & bass stalwarts Black Sun Empire are to follow up a trio of recent EPs from The Upbeats, Neonlight and Pythius with the release of ‘Until The World Ends’ - a five-track, collaborative EP with NZ duo State Of Mind. To be released on January 26th via their genre-defining Blackout imprint, it marks an exciting start to 2015.

Lead track ‘Ego’ immediately sets the tone with growling bass lines and punchy synth-stabs that underpin dark, techy atmospherics and vocal loops.

Second track ‘Until The World Ends’ proves once again both acts’ enduring versatility - kicking off with a bass-heavy dubstep tones complimented by vocal duties from State Of Mind’s fellow New Zealander PNC, before

switching to a manic, intelligently structured groove for the remainder.

‘Bad’ opens with progressive percussion and softly-worked synths that move euphorically to a pounding drum break, whilst fourth track ‘Jack Nicholson’, featuring an imitable sample of the man himself, is a bass-fuelled shockwave of a track. Final track.

‘Moonbox’ closes the EP in true Blackout fashion, with signature frenetic beats and firing drums rounding off proceedings in style.

Black Sun Empire have built a reputation for curating their own brand of dark, neurofunk-inspired drum & bass over the past 12 months and this collaboration with long term accomplices State Of Mind - whom released their latest album ‘Eat The Rich’ via the label earlier this year - feeds into the hype surrounding Blackout as the label looks ahead to 2015.

With over a decade of providing the most cutting edge drum and bass the genre has produced, and after putting out monstrous release after monstrous release on the world’s leading drum and bass label Ram Records, Audio has cemented himself as one of the world’s all time heavyweights. With the world's biggest Drum & Bass Festival approaching in July - Let It Roll Open Air 2016 - Viper Recordings are honoured to be hosting the Factory Stage for the Saturday of the three day event.

Viper artists: Smooth, InsideInfo, Mob Tactics, and Trei will all be representing the label at the festival, as well as on this special 'Viper Goes To Let It Roll' EP, featuring four brand new, previously unreleased tracks geared straight at the festival crowd.

Starting off the EP, Smooth has delivered the aptly titled 'Let It Roll'. A set-opener if there ever was one, with thunderous drums on the intro and a trademark Smooth build to a drop that will kickstart any rave, festival, or club night into high-gear. Up next, InsideInfo drops 'Up2U', a glitchy atmospheric track with InsideInfo's unmistakable sound. Under the restless blanket of a heartless night, the sculptor shifted uneasily in his atelier sleeping quarter. Slumber evaded him, every hallucination of momentary solace chased quickly into the shadows of his disquiet. Tormented by the weight of his task, to surpass the greatest creators of the past and deliver to their dynasty an icon to strike fear and awe into the hearts of the proletariat… In the depths of that darkness his mind cried out to every conceivable higher entity, light and dark – begging for the inspiration that would save him. With the encroachment of dawn, tiredness washed over him… pulling his flayed mind into a shallow sea of morbid sleep. A torrent of nightmares flooded him - visions of an amorphous entity clawing at birthing sack, a hideous soul struggling for its freedom. He awoke with a choking gasp... adrenaline flowing. Something glinted dully upon his bedside in the morning light – the razor edge of a sculptor’s blade. Picking it up and looking closely at its sharp form, covered in an obscure script. He was certain it wasn’t there in the night, it certainly wasn’t one of his… He rose from bed, moving over to the head-shaped block of clay that had awaited his touch for too long. With precision he swiftly scraped deep into the featureless façade. Gasping suddenly, he staggered back, dropping the infernal tool in horror - fear seared deep into his eyes… the clay had reacted, drawing away from the blades edge as if it was living tissue, a trickle of blood seeping out of the fresh wound. The barely shaped head was moving… writhing as if in pain, as if it couldn’t breathe – as if there was something trapped inside... He quickly picked up the blade, cutting again and again, freeing its twisted and tortured mouth, slicing away the substance piece by piece, uncovering the flesh beneath… freeing anguish-filled, bloodshot eyes that flicked around in perpetual terror. Stepping back… he looked with mouth aghast at the vision that confronted him – the head twisting to free itself from his sculptor’s block, a vision of suffering, the deep pain of reality flooding into his creation’s soul.
