Artist: Giacomo Pellegrino [Detroit Side / Greyscale / Ohm Series / Mixcult / spclnch / Ausblick]

We are proud to present another musical frontier. This time we turn our attention to the Italian Dj, producer and head of the Detroit Side Label - Giacomo Pellegrino.   

Giacomo began his musical journey aged 14 when he learned how to DJ. Growing up he listened to a lot of disco and funk and all kinds of 70s and 80s dance music. He often arranged shows and sets for his friends until he was old enough to play at clubs. As his music knowledge and tastes developed he eventually moved into the realms of House and Techno.  

  In much the same way as ourselves, Giacomo has a huge affinity for all things Detroit and in particular , Detroit Techno. Hence the birth of his own label - Detroit Side. A Vinyl only label which he carefully curates and is home to the likes of Delano Smith, Franck Roger, Nick Beringer, S.A.M and of course Giacomo Himself.   

As a producer , Giacomo is someone we’ve been big fans of since we discovered his music, which features regularly in our mixes and radio shows. Through his productions, which are almost solely created using a variety of hardware, he showcases his extensive abilities and talents, often taking inspiration from nature as well has things from his everyday life.

For this Frontier mix, Giacomo has presented a 60 minute journey, which begin with some really deep atmospheric sounds before teasing in some super deep pulsing kicks. As the mix develops he continues to drop in ambient moments, followed by more deep rhythms and sounds.   

We are honoured to be able to host an artist like Giacomo on our platform and we look forward to seeing how his career progresses in the coming years.

Looking in

We observe from a distance, looking through windows illuminated from within—yellow squares breaking into the night. 

We see a dinner table set for a meal, an empty chair, a man stretching, and a woman laughing on the phone. These moments are not meant for us; they are offered freely in the quiet theatre of the evening. As we pass, we collect these fragments: gestures, glows, and stillness. 

Dub techno unfolds similarly—observing without intruding, echoing lives we'll never truly understand. Each track serves as a pane of glass, with each sound reflecting the rhythm of someone else's life.

Bio/
I create experimental underground sound as an electronic musician, producer, and remixer, focusing primarily on Dub Techno, Ambient, and Deep genres. I have collaborated with various labels, including Crossfade Sounds, ECOUL SND, Slope Point, Superordinate Dub Waves, Secret Domain, Echoshapes, Hello Strange, Proton Radio, Pirahna Siberia Dub, Liberty Rhythm, Seesaw Records, and Techenie. My sound features a unique approach to detail, creating a distinctive and recognisable style influenced by various musical genres. "Cosmic vibrations combine with modern electronic rhythms, drawing you into a deep atmospheric sound, where hypnotic patterns infinitely envelop and transport you into free space."

OHM Series Promo show June 2025

For over 20 years Martin Jarl was something of an anomaly in my record collection. At the turn of the century, I was largely buying records on the likes of Deepchord, Salz, Nurture, Bluetrain & Minus THX. I'd also been following the emergence of some labels pushing the more minimal sound for a couple of years, the likes of Out to Lunch, Playhouse & Raum...musik. After the closure of Atlas in Soho I habitually shopped in Smallfish; and I remember adding Martin's Weetabix EP to the listening pile. Upon hearing it I immediately bought two copies, and for the next two decades considered it one of my 'desert island discs'. 

By 2024 both copies were hammered and full of surface noise, and what started out as a tentative ask for some wav files, turned into an opportunity to re-release a track from one of my favourite records. Frankly I could've gone for any of the four tracks. Whether Martin knew to what extent or not; including a remaster of the title track in last year's V/A compilation was a really special moment in lempuyang's journey. Naturally I also asked him if he'd be up for recording a mix for the series. Martin is anything but prolific, and good things truly come to those who wait.

Photosynthesis

I used to run the underground psytrance label Cannibal Syndrome Records, focused on raw, darker and experimental sounds.
Back in the early 2000s, I was active as a psytrance DJ, with a strong focus on darkpsy and the faster, more intense side of the genre.

After some time away, I've recently found my way back to DJing. These days, my sets explore the realms of dub techno and deep techno—slow-burning, textured, and immersive.
