Is ignorance bliss? That’s the question Emika asks on the second single from her forthcoming and eagerly awaited debut album.

Once again mixing pop with dark tones taken from dubstep and techno, the sonics reflect paranoid perspectives of relationships poised between fulfilment and collapse. Atmospherics were captured in Teufelsberg, West Berlin on a cold winter’s day. “I focused on capturing sound, phenomena that exist independently of people and personality,” Emika explains. "But once back in the studio they become the language I use to tell stories.”

“Double Edge” revels in double-think and mirror logic. Do you want to know, or is it better not to? Do you understand yourself as yourself or as the self other people perceive ? “Tell me, which side do you pick?”

Double Edge is remixed by Pinch, producer and head of hugely respected Bristol label Tectonic, turning up the atmospherics another notch, ripping Emika’s vocals to pieces until they sound like the paranoid mutterings in a David Lynch movie.

Emika shows her effortless way of combining cutting edge sonics, with a natural feel for melody and story telling, which stay with the listener long after the first listen

A very new aspect in Christian’s work on this album is the use of vocals. While he used vocal samples for the first time in his collaboration with Ki-colleague and friend Steffen Kirchhoff on their Split EP for Ki Records, more complex vocal structures find their way into his music on „A Forest“. In the track „Eleven“ Christian works with Mohna, singer of Hamburg based band Me Succeeds, and uses her fragile voice throughout a whole track.

Sebastian Hartmann is considered one of the big innovators of contemporary German theatre, and asked Ring to contribute to this mammoth project, which was commissioned by the renowned German arts festival Ruhrfestspiele in Recklinghausen.

Working with Boston-based 501(c)3 non-profit, Ellen’s Heart and Soul, Miles High volunteered to curate the organization’s ‘Music for the Heart and Soul’ Campaign. In this initiative, Ellen’s Heart and Soul is collecting old iPods and MP3 players to place into cancer treatment centers for patients to listen to relaxing music before and after chemotherapy treatments. Miles High will be compiling playlists and loading them onto over 400 iPods to be distributed. This mix is produced to help such patients in their path to healing and recovery with aid of relaxing and meditative music.
