John Englisch played the piano for many ballet classes like Scapino Rotterdam (and formerly Amsterdam), Nova College, H.J.S. and Dance Street. This cd was recorded half in class, half outside, but in the same studio, with thanks to Valerie Valentine, Director of DanceStreet. Also John likes to thank the Englisch kids for the photo’s, recording and artwork.

John Englisch used to play daily the classical ballet class at Scapino Ballet Rotterdam and previously Amsterdam during 23 marvellous years, engraved in the farewell watch he’s wearing since he retired. As parttimer now he accompaigns classes at Nova College Haarlem, Henny Jurriëns and last but not least DanceStreet Amsterdam where Valerie Valentine gave him the right ambiance to create this romantic double CD taking advantage of Iqbal’s experience. Other musical activities: cantor/organist, conductor of shanty choir ZILT, translator into dutch and singer of Maurice Cocagnac’s Chansons
Bibliques and author of different studies about the opera’s I DUE FOSCARI and CARMEN. 2010 his lifework will appear “The E-Variant” a profound musictheory to recover the truth about time bound functional tonality which is NOT what most physics and EVEN LESS what arithmatics pretend it to be.

Iqbal Khawaja (age 39) was born in England and studied dance locally before moving to London to study professionally. He danced in Israel and Germany before settling in the
Netherlands in Het Nationale Ballet. He retired two years ago but occasionally guests in character roles. He has been a teacher for four years and teaches permanently at Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten and Rotterdamse Dans Academie as well as freelancing at Stichting Korzo, Henny Jurriens Stichting and Dansatelier Rotterdam. Photographs and some recordings were taken in DanceStreet Amsterdam where he is about to start may ‘09.

John Englisch (1936-2011) studeerde filosofie, theologie en muziek. Zijn muziekstudie volgde hij in Buenos Aires aan het Collegium Musicum en daarna de afronding in Amsterdam aan het Muzieklyceum met diploma Schoolmuziek en koordirectie.

Docent Solfège/Harmonieleer te Zaandam. Dirigent van Amsterdams Amateur Kamerorkest en van Muziekschoolorkesten te Amsterdam en van koren: Jan Luyken, Musicalkoor, Cantorij, Shantykoor Zilt en grote projecten als de opera's Savitri en Riders to the Sea, Napoleon's Droom en Theseus de Stierdanser. 23 Jaar pianist aan het Scapino Ballet en later aan het Nova College en H.J.S. Amsterdam.

Op CD: ZILT, als de storm is geluwd, zingt de zeeman en Lied van water en wind, Sounds like John (balletklas). Tevens vertaler van de Chansons Bibliques van Maurice Cocagnac o.p., uitgevoerd en opgenomen in de Maartenkerk te Zaandam, begeleid door Mariët Bonger op gitaar. Hij speelde regelmatig orgel in de S.O.W. Gemeente Wormerveer en de Maartenkerk te Zaandam Zijn Oude Leisen Nieuw Gezet (L.B.K. 131-155) zijn uitgegeven bij Uitgeverij 'Jan Zwart' te Zaandam.

In 2010 heeft John Englisch zijn levenswerk na 30 jaar voltooid met het boek De E-Variant, Traditionele Harmonieleer in Triplo; de meest betekenisvolle muziektheorie op het moment van onze bekende geschiedenis, welke de waarheid ontrafelt over de tijdgebonden functionele tonaliteit welke onvolledig door natuurkundigen en nog veel minder door wiskundigen is uitgelegd en berekend. Het is de opgetelde 3 eenheid van universele natuurkunde (musica mundana), componist en wiskundige (musica humana) en de uitvoerende musicus in tonaliteit en tijd/ruimte (musica instrumentalis) welke de waarheid verteld, deze 3 zijn onafscheidelijk van elkaar. Om de uitleg in het boek goed te begrijpen is er een diepere kennis van harmonieleer nodig. Het praktische gedeelte daarentegen, bestaande uit rasters met transparant inlegvel welke alle mogelijke oplossingen geven, zijn geschikt voor iedere muziekliefhebber met kennis van het notenschrift.
