Push Communications' beloved underground series is back again for a ninth edition, having selected the cream of the crop for your listening pleasure. Whether rolling and tribal, deep and disco-laced, or with snatches of acid tech and delicate melodies, this quality compilation is the most trusted cross-section of the hottest sounds in tech house today.

Scene heroes like Vince Watson, Kasper Bjørke and Steve Bug bring their masterful sound to the mix, with standout tracks from this year that pack a powerful punch and demonstrate why they're still at the top of their game. Tech house favourites Marco Resmann, Alex Niggemann and Anthony Collins are also here amongst their peers, adding their own personal flair and dancefloor expertise to a compilation bursting with quality tracks, from familiar names and hot newcomers alike.

Eight volumes in, the sheer quality of Push Communications' My Deep House series shows no sign of letting up. This is that rare thing: a compilation that commands the listener‘s attention from start to finish, captivating you with its diversity of sounds and moods. 

The international line-up is, as we've come to expect, impressive. Big players such as Phonique, Vincenzo and Vince Watson rub shoulders with established names Jay Haze and Andrade and a host of up and coming producers including Alex Blaxx, Josh Winiberg and Brynjolfur.

Cherry-picking highlights is simply impossible. From the moment the resounding piano chords of 'Merry Go Round' seize the baton from the hard-hitting yet soulful 'The Moment' it‘s clear that standards are going to be exceptionally high. Kasper Bjørke delves into pockets of space that few producers can reach in an exploration of dark and gothic territories. Roberto Rodriguez summons up a purist's house groove that compels you to submit to its pulsing synth riff. Julius Steinhoff gives the rigorously programmed lines of Deo & Z-Man's 'Tales of Love' a spontaneous, improvised feel. No Regular Play conjure up a yearning, late-night groove.

There's a cornucopia of sounds for every earbud: textbook peaks and troughs, stuttering beats, big handclaps, husky vocals, reversed guitars, dubwise and disco grooves, chiming polyrhythms; something for every discerning palette - and for both body and soul.

The term 'Tech House' can‘t quite do justice to a compilation that's tied together less by genre than pure, unadulterated quality. Encompassing a depth and breadth of contemporary electronic dance music, this 10th instalment in Push's essential underground series can justly claim to be the best yet, packed with boxfresh releases from established veterans and up-and-coming producers alike.

The latter group includes transmissions from Florian Gasperini & Marcan, Benja & Reto Ardour and the dark music-box chimes of Mario Basanov's remix of Lehar's 'Sargas'. Elsewhere, there are synth symphonies from Jona and Matthias Meyer - saturated with intricate, interweaving lines - and fresh reworks of a string of underground sleepers, including the Inner City-esque stabs of Steve Bug's 'A Shot in The Dark', the no-nonsense repetitions of Daniel Dexter's 'No House for Old Men' and Boris Dlugosch's acid-tinged, thumping 'Sweet Talk'.

Big names abound: Alex Niggemann contributes the deep jack of 'Bee' and the enveloping groove of 'Materium'; Vince Watson summons the ghosts of 90s techno for 'Feel It'; Kasper Bjørke delivers poignant disco noir; Phonique and Acumen start out dreamy and build to a massive dancefloor climax on the aptly-titled 'The Moment'. 

Playing favourites would be churlish, but Djuma Soundsystem's and Shades Of Gray's 'Madness' wins points for its surreal organ line - as if Jackie Mittoo had taken a sublime wrong turn in the studio corridors - and Lithuania's Few Nolder delivers the thrilling, hyperkinetic monster of 'If'. Kompakt head honcho Michael Mayer rounds off an astonishing ride with an arpeggiated remix of Dreems' 'Mirages', its overloaded distortions a threat to the biggest, baddest speakers. Don‘t say you weren't warned.
