An attempt at taking a classic rock song and making it sound more electronica. We were in the studio and my song I was working on fit "Woodstock" - so we changed it to that song. 
I would love to work with DJ's to take this song into more of an electronica feel direction... so it can dance... let me know if you hear it.

Ben Klock introduces Greek-raised, Moscow-based artist Stef Mendesidis for the next Klockworks release. Mendesidis delivers 3 original tracks using analogue gear to produce soundscapes inspired by cinematic scenes. Thats sounds transport the listener through sounding grooves and classy chords that fit the signature Klockworks sound. Focusing on his machines for the craft of his music, Mendesidis recorded all cuts in one take. To celebrate his EP release, he wants to join the Klockworks showcase at Berghain on December 29th.

Temudo hands in his second EP for Soma Records. His debut EP, Context, was one of Soma's highlights of 2019, widely played and supported. Unnecessary EP follows the same aesthetic statement as its predecessor with 4 dancefloor oriented tracks. One can feel Temudo's signature textures and carefully crafted details throughout the new release. All the 4 tracks have their own particular sonic universe, suitable for different vibes and momentum, all weapons for a diversity of contexts. Still, all contain a specific attitude that prove the young producers skills; something that sums up Temudo' work.

3D or not 3D, that is the question. The answer, in this particular case, is sort of. Yes, it is the 3D(ream) Team of Howells (D for Danny), Emerson (D for Darren) and Seaman (D for Dave). The three musketeers who since 2016 have harnessed their considerable talents to deliver expertly curated back to back DJ sets and finely crafted slabs of dancefloor goodness via the good ship Selador. This time around, however, its 3D squared. Whilst scrupulously observing the Rule of 6, three fellow travellers from around the globe have been invited to join our motley crew, bringing their remix expertise to the (legal, socially distanced) party. These are challenging times but music remains the best panacea. And while all three offerings here are deserving of your attention in their own right, what unites them is a mastery of soothing atmospherics, a sonic blanket to wrap around yourself. All will transport you to the dancefloors we yearn to be on right now, but each mix also doubles up as an electronic balm custom made for your headphones. First up, we return to 2018s first EP, and Daves brilliantly-titled Hired State of Unconsciousness. For remix duties, we visit France and invite the ever-popular Rodriguez Jr to pick up the baton. A naggingly insistent acidic riff is gradually enveloped by gorgeous melodies guaranteed to set you adrift on memory bliss. We then hop over the border and ask legendary German genre-straddler, Ian Pooley, to take the controls and re-work Darrens paean to pioneering New York imprint Sleeping Bag from this years trilogy-completing third EP in the series. We are rewarded with a characteristically mesmeric slice of hypnotic funktronica. For our third selection, Romanias electronic ambassador Mihai Popoviciu, a veteran of so many leading labels, takes on Dannys Shortwave, also from the third EP. Here we have a blissful builder of a mix, with an irresistible lead hook aided and abetted by numerous tectonic elements weaving in and out of the track. Time to get 3 dimensional once again. Steve Lawler joins the Circus roster as an artist who has conquered all before him and delivers a timeless classic in the form of ‘Dissonance’.

Steve Lawler is one of the most recognisable names in the dance music industry, from his label VIVA MUSiC to his Warriors Events in Ibiza and across the globe, his reputation proceeds him. An artist who has worked tirelessly to defy the genre boundaries and pioneer the House sounds we hear today, with his own productions on labels such as Drumcode, Cocoon, Moon Harbour, Knee Deep In Sound & beyond. However, all this was a culmination of everything that came before; Illegal Raves in the 90’s, a residency at Cream, Liverpool with further residencies at legendary Ibizan nightclub, Space and London’s The End, all brought this dynamic and driven artist to the fore. 

His latest EP, ‘Dissonance’ is a rolling and uplifting ode to the one of the greatest tracks of all time ‘Knights of the Jaguar’ and further demonstrates Lawler’s ability to deliver a timeless track with style and grace

Steve Lawler - Dissonance

“All my father sang about is very relevant in our lives politically and socially in Nigeria today. Most of the younger artists still sample his music, they still quote his words, and people always refer to all he sang about. The youths are quite shocked he even addressed all these issues alone in the 70s and the high price he paid for speaking the truth to government.” 

These are the words of legendary Nigerian musician and activist Fela Kuti, words that remain as true as ever over two decades since his untimely death. A pioneer of the Nigerian revolution, his fight against police oppression remains an ongoing conversation in the country, where the campaign to abolish Nigeria’s militant police branch of SARS (Special Anti-Robbery Squad) has accelerated this year. Now Armonica and MoBlack revisit Fela Kuti’s ‘International Thief Thief (I T. T.)’, the record where Fela called out and directly attacked former Nigerian president General Obasanjo after his mother was murdered by the army. Fela used the I.T.T. acronym satirically, knowing it would have been recognised by any Nigerian as representing the International Telephone & Telegraph, the country’s biggest national telecommunications conglomerate. In the song, he also makes accusations against Moshood Abjola, the local CEO of both I.T.T. and Decca Records, who had betrayed Fela to become favourable with the corrupt president. As the fight against systemic corruption continues to be a pressing issue in Nigeria, Armonica & MoBlack’s flawlessly executed and ever respectful remix of ‘International Thief Thief’ brings a powerful and culturally relevant piece of music to the forefront of dance culture in 2020, as they pay homage to the ground-breaking artist that created it.

Detroit pioneer Robert Hood joins Radio Slave’s Rekids label with a fourteen track album entitled ‘Mirror Man’ this November.

A founding member of Underground Resistance alongside Mad Mike Banks and Jeff Mills, Robert Hood is one of techno’s originators and his decorated career spans three decades. The American artist and his M-Plant label laid down the blueprint for minimal techno and 1994’s ‘Minimal Nation’ on Axis was a definitive album that further cemented Hood’s reputation as one of the greats to emerge from the Motor City.

Since then, Hood has gone on to release on many of electronic music’s best labels like Tresor, Peacefrog, Music Man Records, Dekmantel and more. After a busy few years making music and touring as Floorplan alongside his daughter Lyric, Hood now joins Rekids with an album showcasing his innate knack for crafting paired back but intricate rhythms that deliver punch and soul.

Opening with the cinematic ‘Through A Looking Glass Darkly’, the album quickly flows into precise, powerful four four. There’s mesmerising cuts such as ‘Fear Not’ with its throbbing bass and spectral vocals, the twisted and off-key ‘Run Bobby, Run’, not to mention muscular tracks designed to light up dancefloors like the machine driven ‘Ignite A War’ or the robust and rumbling ‘The Cure’.
Hood also breaks things up with downtempo and mind bending interludes, including the tranquil yet spooky ‘Black Mirror’ and the beatless and murky ‘Freeze’. Each of these are aural feasts that demonstrate his vast musical pallet.

From start to finish ‘Mirror Man’ is an education in finesse from one of techno’s most heroic artists, landing on one of electronic music’s most important labels.

WHACK3RS VOL.1 it will be the first volume of a various artists series of sonic episodes to be released. WHACK3RS title arose from the idea that 3 tracks will always be included. For the first compilation to be released on WHACK, Aitor Ronda is inviting the well known german producer Heerhorst, the young Spanish talented Blakeit, and the Turkish rising artist Riza Gobelez based in Netherlands.

Before pressing the 'play' button. The concept of family is of enormous relevance to Aitor. No matter how much life changes in the future, it will probably continue to be needed in one form or another. And with that said, it should be clear that one of WHACK's main tasks will be to seek and discover real talent around the world.

Now, yes. Musically speaking, the common thread on this release is, of course, techno. A 3-track pack built with deep rhythms, some shamanic breathings and outrageous progressions. Sometimes techno with striking synthesizers and energetic drums, but also trancy with an evolving and singular grooves. That’s what happens listening to Aitor Ronda & Heerhorst’s “Blend Me”. Also transporting us to a kind of dark trance macrocosm, overwhelming pads and edgy synth patterns it is Blakeit with “Golden Ratio”. And last but not least mighty, “Clarify” by Turkish producer Riza Gobelez, a heavy compound of aggro 303 drives, convulsive electro- clapping and staccato bass motifs.

Theo Nasa makes his debut on Rekids this December with ‘Worldwide Ravers EP’.

The Alien Sound Trax boss, who has previously appeared on the likes of World Unknown, Suara, and UNCAGE, makes his mark on Radio Slave’s imprint with the hard-hitting and distinct ‘Worldwide Ravers EP’.

Deeply infused with the unmistakable sound of the UK, Nasa draws from his broad range of influences for his EP, distilling elements of Jungle, Rave, and Hardcore into his own brand of meticulously crafted, difficult-to-pigeonhole techno. Opener ‘Dubska’, clocking in at over ten minutes long, is a relentless and fast-paced affair, bubbling along at breakneck speed with the help of classic vocal samples, while ‘World Dance (Rinse Out Mix)’ fuses breakbeats and droning bass to create a high energy track that twists and turns at 140bpm. Field recordings of birds in ‘Summertime Raving In London’ sit alongside classic drum kits and emotive chords while living up to its titular character.

Riva Starr makes a highly anticipated return to his Snatch! imprint with two uplifting, soul-drenched house cuts featuring vocals from London-based singer Gavin Holligan.

As always with a release from East-London-based Stefano Miele, aka Riva Starr, there's fun, funk and musicality in bucketloads on offer with 'If I Could Only Be Sure'. Title-track 'If I Could Only Be Sure' is a soulful cut, fusing sultry, emotive vocals from ex-footballer and singer-songwriter Holligan with rich keys and a captivating groove. 'Scat Dub', a glorious and buoyant piece driven by loose, organic percussion and titular vocal rhythms that tightly wind hooks upon hooks within the track, rounds things off with some serious earworm-ing chops.

A musical free spirit, there's good reason why Riva Starr's productions and remixes find homes at so many top tier labels and 'If I Could Only Be Sure', complete with superb vocals from Gavin Holligan, is yet another diamond in his discography.
